Stupid Pet Peeves

I went from my xterra, which I could park easily, to my Silverado which I can't park for ****. I park way far away and never between two other vehicles lol.

I drove to a jazz game in it once and parked in the underground parking at city center mall. It was nightmare. Especially when the game ended and everyone was leaving.

Never again

Jesus that things huge! Thankfully we don't see many of them here, although those big arse American trucks are getting a little bit more common.

People who drive big *** trucks and lack the necessary skill to park them in one parking space.

People who take up more than one parking space on purpose, unless they are at the back of the parking lot where no one else would want to park anyway. When I drove a car I didn't care about getting dinged I would park right against their driver door when I saw cars parked like that.

Although this one was staged, this stuff is always funny.

Exactly. When I was driving a nice car that I really wanted to protect I parked at the back of the parking lot where no one else wanted to. Assholes like that get what they deserve.

Its just after 6am on Saturday, I haven't just stumbled out of a cab after last drinks somewhere, I've been in bed staring at the ceiling managed about 6 hours sleep last night. It does have its positives tho, should be able to get a bunch of **** done today.

6 hours in one night is considered insomnia? I wish I were so lucky.

My best effort for the week, this time of year I normally sleep at least eight hours a day, this week I've been running on 5 and under. That said I did get blind drunk last night and slept for 10 hours today! Hooray!

I had a good comeback for you but I forgot what it was.

But seriously, adequate sleep allows for the plaques that build-up in your brain to be rinsed away. Sleep has been somewhat of a mystery, but researchers believe this function of removing plaques (the stuff that is found at extreme levels in people with Alzheimer's) from your brain is a pretty solid explanation for why we sleep.

When you have to change your password at work every 90 days and it takes at least 30 of them before you stop typing in the old one.

Changing your password every 90 days AT ALL. Drives me nuts.

While we are at it, ridiculous expectations for passwords.

"Your password must contain:

* 8-14 characters, no more, no less
* at least one upper case letter
* at least one lower case letter
* at least one number
* at least one special character
* cannot contain any of these special characters: !@#$%^&:;,<>?/{]}{
* must contain the initials of at least one of the original mouseketeers
* cannot contain the abbreviation of any state
* cannot spell out a word
* cannot have any 2 numbers in sequence
* cannot repeat any characters
* must contain at least one 3-digit prime number
* cannot repeat any of your previous 78 passwords, or any part of them

etc. etc."

We will reach a point of critical mass where everyone will be forced into using exactly one password and they will all be the same in order to fulfill all the crap required. Hmm. Maybe that is the master plan after all?

Joke about passwords:

Husband is not very computer smart so wife helps him to set up account. They reach the point where he needs to create a password so he asks his wife what word he should choose. Wife says, "well use something you think about every day so it would be easy for you to remember": Husband slowly types in P E N I S. Wife burst in laughter when computer sends a message: "Password rejected - too short".

Shopping with my father! **** talk about not being a low blood pressure day!! Farking Hell!!!!

I watched the Movie "Battleship" the other day.

Should have been a fun good time. No!

Full disclosure, I saw part of the movie before and then saw the whole thing the other day. I wanted to watch it because it seemed to prominently portray an enlisted sailor performing the job I did in the Navy. That is, the job of a Fire Controlman. Fire Controlman...control the firing of shipboard weapons. This person, doing the job of an FC (short for Fire Controlman), was instead called a Gunners Mate. I have lot's of love for Gunners Mates. FCs and GMs worked hand-in-hand on battleships. The GMs loaded the 16" guns and the FCs aimed and fired them. GMs perform a supporting role in firing those big guns. FCs, on the other hand, "own" those guns. FCs do the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the guns and associated fire control computer systems, and then during combat the FCs also operate those weapon systems. It is one of the most unique jobs in the U.S. military. It is essential during combat that the people at all stations associated with the ship's fighting capability be capable of quickly troubleshooting and fixing problems to keep the ship fighting. That's why FCs perform both the technical side and operation side of the job.

My first General Quarters station aboard ship was in the Combat Direction Center sitting at the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Console. I was there to push the "fire" button if there was an order to launch missiles, but I was also there to troubleshoot the electronic equipment at my station in the event of a breakdown.

Anyway, Rihanna was called a Gunners Mate in the movie, but she performs the job of a Fire Controlman.

The fire controlman's creed
I am a fire controlman, a petty officer of the United States Navy, my work is the operation and maintenance of the weapons aboard the fighting ships of the Navy, I am required to know, operate, and maintain intricate scientific precision instruments.
To do this, I must have a thorough knowledge of the work of an electronics technician, machinist's mate, gunner's mate, machinery repairman, operations specialist, and engineman.
My aim in life is to know my job; to know everything that pertains to practical gunnery and ordnance.
As long as there is any operation or piece of equipment I do not fully understand, my job is not complete.
In the event of war, I must be prepared for any emergency.
I must be capable of and competent to fill my station, or perform any operation in the weapons department of my ship; to assume command of, spot, or control the fire of any battery.
In addition to being competent to perform any operation, I will strive to know my maintenance duties so well that I may maintain the battle efficiency of my ship, even on a darkened ship, under enemy fire. This to the end … that the ship may fight as long as she is afloat!

Who cares what they call her? She's a fairly good bit of eye candy and you're worrying about her job title? Got any pictures or screen captures of her in this compromising position? Maybe pictures will help translate your frustration into something that people without mild autism will understand...

I completely get that no one but me and other FCs give a **** about this.

But I give a **** about this.
