Stupid Pet Peeves

I once had a shoulder injury which made it a bit more comfortable to drive like that. It's a thing, I noticed.

Is that really a thing? I'm going to have to try that. I don't even think I've seen somebody underhand grip at all.
I usually just steer with my knees so I can hold my burger and phone with my hands... having my soda between my legs makes it tough to steer with my knees though.

We have owned a ***** cat and she is biting my hand all the time even though I tell her not to. Dat count?
Well it is a pet that gets you peeved so yes

Here's a few of mine:

1. Forced, repetitive displays of patriotism, including playing National Anthem before every sporting event and, each Jazz game, introducing someone from military along with attendant standing up and clapping/cheering (only come to find that these sort of things are actually paid adverts by the military). I love my country, but don't feel the need to genuflect to it before every single sporting event. While some might appreciate the opportunity, I see it as a rote gesture long devoid of significant meaning through overuse. Plus, just because someone serves in or has served in the military, that makes him/her, in my view, no more or less deserving of our praise than any number of people doing any number of other things. I find this whole military hagiography culture to be unseemly; if there's any institution that absolutely requires our constant vigilance and critical eye, it is the military (not to diminish the important things it does do).

My cousin, active military and did a tour in Iraq, recently posted on facebook how obnoxious it is hearing the constant battering of how poorly the US millitary personnel are paid. It went something along the lines of: "First off, starter jobs are not meant to be so-called "living wage". Secondly, GS6,7,X,Y,Z (or whatever the military term is) is not the actual true final pay. There is a whole lot more involved (he gave specific examples). You don't know wtf you are talking about so please stop quoting empty stats."

People who bitch about how complicated the tax code is and that it needs to be simplified. I did my own taxes since I was sixteen until just a few years back due to investment reasons. It's not that hard. At all. If it is hard, guess what, it's because you want a write off that the rest of us are "paying for". Don't want to complicate your tax return with a child daycare tax credit? Fine! Don't ask us to pay for it! Want that child daycare tax credit? Fine! Put in a little damn work! Don't want to get some Prius write off? Fine! Don't by an effing Prius!

People who don't get up to speed before they actually get on the freeway. That's what the damn ramp is for! There's nothing better than some *** hat doing 50 MPH by the time he hits the freeway. Which means I'm stuck doing 50 behind him trying desperately to find an opening to get over and pass him.

When people say "the fence needs fixed" or "that paperwork needs done" instead of saying "the fence needs to be fixed" or "that paperwork needs to be done."

Basically, "to be or not to be, that is the question."

I gotcha. The one that bugs me that's kind of like that is when people say "I'd like a couple donuts" instead of "a couple of donuts".

did you read his post about musicians? This dude is Philistine to the max. A total hoot, I'm sure.

I like music, couldn't care less about musicians. Same goes for actors. I like a well acted movie, don't care who the people on screen date or what they think about politics.
