Stupid Pet Peeves

Sales calls. I get at least 4 per day. They're all "cold calls". Does that even work anymore? I mean who answers a phone call from some company they've never heard from and gives them money? Or even stupider, a credit card number?

Unfortunately, the elderly.

Enough people must, or they would stop.

My wife sleeps with a fan on at night for background noise. I can't stand that freaking thing. Not only does the noise keep me up, but after a time it starts a gyrating noise that is obnoxious. On top of that, she doesn't turn the damn thing off in the morning (it sits right next to her). I turn the stupid thing off 95% of the time. I started unplugging it to make a nuisance. Then I started unplugging it and moving it. Then I started hiding the damn thing. Nothing works to change her habit of not turning the damn thing off when she wakes up.

I sleep with earplugs in. Habit that started once I was stationed on a ship in the Navy. Continued when I worked nights. Honestly can't believe more people don't do that. Absolute life changer.

I've thought of doing this but then I wouldn't hear my alarm clock. So my wife and I use a fan. A Vornado. It's okay but generally speaking, it sucks now trying to find loud fans. Most that are sold are said to be quieter. No idea why someone would want one of those. In college, I had one that sounded like a 747 jet engine next to me. Thing was epic.

Buy a nicer fan that doesnt make obnoxious noises?

I prefer to sleep with a fan on. But it does not bother my wife.

We do get into debates about lights on. She likes to stay up reading sometimes but in bed to help her fall asleep. The light drives me nuts. Its hard to fall asleep with a light on and when I do fall asleep if I get woken up by the light it is almost impossible for me to fall back asleep again. Which is annoying when I have to get up early for work and she does not.

My wife used to do this to read. Then I told her to stop being ****ing selfish and leave the room to read or buy a little reading light. She did the latter. It's small. But now she no longer even reads or uses it. Instead, she just sits on her ****ing phone all night under the covers to play some stupid game or chat with women on the J&J babycenter site/app. So ****ing dumb. Who would befriend strangers on the internet?

I sleep in another room or in our closet. It doesn't bother either of us. It's mostly that I hate turning things off after people, and my family all have the bad habit of leaving the lights on, the front door open, cabinets open, not closing the fridge, not checking the toilet handle to make sure the water bowl is filling, etc.

We don't see eye to eye on a lot of **** but our attention to detail (or as I tell my ****ing wife, simply being a responsible adult who teaches good habits to our children) in domesticated matters is eerily similar, franklin.

You can get white noise makers. Something like this might be worth checking out: https://www.amazon.com/Big-Red-Rooster-BRRC107-Machine/dp/B01H6WXUX8

We have a noise machine in every bedroom. We take them with us on vacation. I swear by them. Ours broke the other night and neither of us slept well that night.

I try to use it randomly because they can be habit forming.

I can still hear my alarm clock just fine. Test it out on the weekend. It mostly just takes the hard edge off sharp sounds like a door closing or whatnot.

Went and saw Peter Hook from Joy Division last night, sitting at work with a hangover from hell, its a beautiful day and i'm stuck here for another 7 hours, all I want is a beer.

When all the normal dishes are either dirty or clean but in the dishwasher and my family members start using the odd shaped dishes that take up tons more room in the dishwasher than our normal dishes. If they did the dishes every once in awhile they'd know how annoying that is.

Along with that, on the rare occasion when they put the clean dishes away they put stuff away in the wrong place. We've been living in this house for 11 years. You'd think they would know where stuff goes by now.

Maybe you’ve been putting them in the wrong places all this time?

People who have cell phone conversations with it on speaker as they wander around the store. I don’t even want to deal with them in my way, it’s only worse when I have to hear both sides of the conversation.
