Summer 2015: FIBA games of Utah Jazz players

I would not be so quick to put them in. Looks like most French players headed the call of the national team, but Serbia, Turkey, Lithuania, Spain, Croatia, Greece, Slovenia should be pretty good. Italy has 4 NBA'ers playing and should score a ton of points, but will alas give up 150 a game.

I was alluding to him posting the post group stage schedule in the France column, but leaving it out in Germany's ;)
And yes even with homer glasses I realize that it's a long short for Germany to make it out of the groupstage. That tall blond dude though will hopefully prove everyone wrong.

I've heard no, but I wouldn't call it definitive.

I have not seen a roster yet for Fiba Americas yet. I know they are trying to get Wiggins, T Thompson, and Olynk at the very least to play.

Seems like the they've released the list of players:

The TORONTO 2015 team includes NBA talents Anthony Bennett, Andrew Nicholson, and Sim Bhullar; national team veterans Aaron Dornekamp, Carl English and European pros Junior Cadougan, Melvin Ejim, Brady Heslip, and Daniel Mullings. College standouts Dillon Brooks, Kyle Wiltjer and recent Kentucky-commit, Jamal Murray, round out the roster.

Im having a hard time finding tickets for certain games.

Id love to see Germany and France go at it. Wearing my Gobert jersey.

Definitely best basketball of the summer. France should feel shameful if they lost to Germany. Even with Dirk and Schroder and of course the best player Pleiss not to much talent on the German team.

FOr Germany vs France, there's only some Tickets left in the upper section between 15 and 19 Euros. Considered going there. But not worth to sit that far up for me.

Sorry, did not know you are from Germany, but just being honest about their talent compared to many of the other teams. Group B is definitely the toughest group. May come down to Germany and Italy for the 4th spot. Italy has there 4 NBA guys playing, but on the downside there defense will be pretty bad.

I have no problem with Germany being underdogs. I even agreed with it, since the other teams are very deep and have top tier talent as well. But I disagree with the notion that the majority/depth of the national team consists of some scrubs that barely can dribble.

With Schröder at PG, Nowitzki and Pleiß as the bigs, the wing rotation is the focal point of potential weakness.

My guess is that Niels Giffey(UConn Huskies -> Alba Berlin) will start. He is a role player to ensure maximum spacing. He's shot 43% last year from downtown in the German BBL and EuroLeague. He's played 16 min/game for them, and despite "low" 6 PPG averages, his usage was at 18%.
For the other wing slot, I see multiple players contending for it. There's the possibility that Germany will play with a small backcourt for stretches of the game and Schröder defending bigger guards due to his length. But this will probably depend on the opponent they face.

Alex King(6'7) is a versatile defensive player, who can guard wings and small bigs both from a strength, quickness and smarts perspective. He's limited offensively, but his shot has improved so much that when ppl sink low from him, he'll nail enough from deep to be "not inefficient" in the halfcourt.

Anton Gavel(6'4) is a guard, who can serve both as a 2ndary ballhandler as well as plays off the ball. He's from Slovakia by birth, but was granted German citizenship as he's married to a German. He's playing in Germany for at least 5 years now and a good all around player. His shooting has somewhat slumped (40% -> 31% from 3)in the past season, but his playmaking was still top notch(3.5 APG, 20% Assist pct).

Robin Benzing is a 6'10 wing, who's got some ball skills and trys to use his length operating from the midpost, mixing fallaways with drives.
He's also had a bad season, where his role with Bayern Munich(Like Gavel) shrunk and as a result he's going to Spain next season.

Paul Zipser is a very talented foward, 6'8. Very sound overall game. Currently projected #56 in next year's mock by DX. He's 21, had a ACL rupture 2 years ago and has improved significantly then. He's a sleeper in case he's improved a lot over the summer so far.

I see a bigger problem among the backup bigs. After Maximilian Kleber is missing due to injury, the best reserve option is gone.
Johannes Voigtmann is the one I see making the biggest impact. A 7' Center, who is slowly extending his range out to the 3 point line. He's a very good passer for a big (20% AST pct, 2 APG), he's good at diving to the rim and uses hook shots successfully.

But in the end it will come down to how much Nowtzki and Schröder can carry the team IMO. But this team has better spacing than any German national team had in the past, where Nowitzki played basically 1v9 on offense when opponents ignored their men to help on Dirk. He's no longer as young, but with the right amount of spacing I think he can still show why he was arguably the best iso player for a decade.
