Summer 2015: FIBA games of Utah Jazz players

@Diamond77
The "root" thing is something completely different. My grandparents imigrated from Greece but our family was all Turkish. Cedi's one side is also bosnian or macedonian, other side is Turkish. Hedo is fluent in Bosnian and has Bosna roots as well but he was born and raised in Turkey

Today I heard on TV that Dzaner Osman that is Cedi's brother played for Macedonia youth team.

Caner, a turkish name. Dz is identical to letter C.

These are all true but way different situations from Ersan's.

Nope. Didn't watch. I'm just saying that for the entire game, Rudy was statistically better. So he probably kept them in the game for the first 3 quarters, which gave others a chance to take over in the 4th. You can't dismiss performance across the first 75% of a game and only focus on the last 25% - or in Trey's case, the last 5 minutes (which had everyone calling him "clutch"). Lauvergne only had 11 points TOTAL. He had 9 of those in the 4th. So for the first 3 quarters he was completely ineffective.

I didn't talk about statistics, I just said that Lauvergne has been decisive offensively in the 4th quarter.

Concerning statistics, Rudy had a good game but as I said before he showed some offensive limits.

Lauvergne was +1 for the game; Gobert was +14. Kahudi and De Colo also had +/-'s above 10. Only 1 block for Rudy but 4 steals. So 12/10/1/4 in 23 minutes. Not bad.

I also like the expanded info in the boxscore that shows not only fouls committed, but how many were drawn. Two PF's for Rudy against six drawn - the best ratio on the court.

Not bad?......

Thafu......not bad???

Fair enough.

As for Rudy, I hope QS makes him shoot 500 FT's every day. Gobert and Favors can easily up their scoring averages by a couple of points just by making FT's. And Booker is even WORSE from the line than those two. Is Utah giving up maybe 4-6 pts/per game with missed FT's?

If Rudy develops a single solid post move he could be devastating.

I fear he won't improve his touch around the rim.

And I'm not saying Lauvergne isn't a good player. I noticed him in the "friendlies" that France played. Was thinking the Jazz should sign him, before I learned he had been drafted. He has decent potential, IMO, to be a very good backup in the NBA.

Lauvergne played the last half of the season for the Nuggets.

The Czech playmaker Satoransky looks like a good NBA prospect. Has great size for a PG. Will most likely be with the Wizards in 16/17. Vesely may have stunk in NBA, but he looks mighty good in FIBA ball.

Big Fesenko turning with 15 ppg, 8,3 rpg and 1 apg! He is averaging more points than Nowitzki, Gortat, Ilyasova and Bargnani! Unbelievable!

If Dirk plays for Dallas like he has for Germany this tournament, Cuban is going to be very disappointed. I think Jazz will need another seven footer just in case the others get injured so sign him up for 16/17.

The big thing he did was make that 3, and showed a very nice touch. Looks like he could potentially be an Okur-level shooter, plus he is more mobile than Memo.

But Rudy, I think, had a lot more impact on the game with his defense -- I see they took a block away from him when Diaw fouled the guy in the act of shooting and then Rudy blocked it - he should've gotten credit for that. I agree about Rudy's offense. He just looks timid if he isn't right up on the rim. I hope the Jazz coaches can fix that.

You might want to think this through.
You're right. With more usage (which I think Gobert definitely gets), increasing their FT% percentage to around 80% probably increases their points/per by just 1. It really affects Gobert's ability to finish games. Yes, I know there are new rules to discourage Hack-a-Shaq strategies. It can be lessened, but not altogether eliminated.

Overall, Utah finished 26th in FG% but 15th in attempts. They definitely left some points at the line with Gobert, Favors, Booker and Exum the main culprits.

Rudy seems to have a decent release but he also seems to aim the ball and take too long shooting it. I think he ought to try for a more relaxed and quicker release, or at least practice that way until it becomes natural. I think it will not only help his foul shooting but allow him to get off shots within 10-feet of the basketball with some confidence. It seems he has to set himself firmly to take a shot which prevents him from taking short floaters, jumpers that he could take unimpeded because by the time he sets himself he's covered.

Notice when he is moving and shooting that finger roll, he never gets it blocked and usually makes it. That's because he's not static. If he took his shots in the paint that way, in one motion, I think not only would he get them off but make a high percentage. He just needs to practice that and be more aggressive to shoot the ball. In any case, if he misses, there's a good chance he could grab the miss and make an easy put back.

*FT%

15th is interesting considering Burks who got to the line at a real solid rate before injury missed a ton of the year and Exum almost never went to the line. I'd love to see us crack the top 10 in free throw attempts and the top 18 in % this season. That would mean a couple more points per game and could equate into 1-3 more wins.
