Maggette is a horrible comparison. Burks is definitely like Rodney Stuckey, great isolation player. He can slash, get to the rim, good athleticism, draws fouls, decent mid range game, improving outside game. Both around 6 6 and have some PG inside them

I think the thing about Kanter is that he's not playing the game, he's thinking through it...going through the low post moves, pick and rolls, etc.
When he's comfortable enough with what he's learning and thinking through, he'll start playing the game and using those moves without thinking through them. That's the idea with this summer league and his training.
It'll take time, hopefully it's worth it. He's got a good work ethic and should be very smart as well based on his life when he was younger.

The only way he will get there is in game experience. Wish the guys at P3 where playing a game with him every day.
 
but the point isn't necessarily to compare them statistically. The point is this: when did it become OK to call Westbrook a PG? Was it before or after he led the league in turnovers and shot miserable percentages in his rookie year?

Rodney Stuckey can play both PG and SG thx to his size, handling ability, good passing skills, etc and there is really no connection forhim with Burks. Burks play like 4+1. When i watch him, i see a selfish player whose 1st aim is to score in every position. It is sometimes good, generally bad. You gotta accept his strength and weaknesses. He will be good 6th man a la Maggette but not a Stuckey type player

The point is understanding the strength and weaknesses. I just do not see the potential and ability on Burks to be a combo guard. He is just a SG. Also after one season passed and now in SL, i have never seen his passing 1st mentality. He just likes going to the rim in every sec. When he passes, it means he is in traffic or he is helpless.

Not saying I disagree, but you're not showing how any of that differs from Westbrook.

When did it become OK to call Westbrook a PG?
 
1st of all westbrook is not one of my favourite players. I like real PGs who thinks passing 1st. Second i believe in Westbrook's shooting attempts, pushing too much all comes from their team structure and coaching. They need to find points from perimeter players and their big men there just need to make defense, rebounding. Third, even he is pushing too much he can still make plays and easy buckets for Perkins and Ibaka. And i see Burks do not have ability to make plays as being combo guard. He can not control the game tempo ( He always wanna game speed up), seems having hard time on close press while he is taking the ball on the half court and do not have the court vision set to set on offense.

I agree with a lot of what you say. This is the land of John Stockton... we all want a pure PG. But, what's the bloody point of holding your breath for one? We don't have one, and there isn't one coming down the pipe.

Also, whether you, me, or anybody else thinks Westbrook's game isn't what it should be, the statistics, wins, and accolades suggest otherwise.

Sometimes you have to go with what you have. Burks, baby.

Yea as i said earlier we gotta accept them with their strengths but also weaknesses so Burks will be one of the dangerous players who steps up on the court and finds points easily. The matter is the attempt number and efficiency.

Well, Burks has the potential to be one of the most efficient scorers on this team. His ability to get to the line is awesome + he can go left and right with equal ease. He just needs to add a consistent jumper. I think his handles are already pretty good, and he'll tighten them up too.

I'm doing suicidewatch.org a favor by trying to get this kid traded before word gets out that he's a glorified Kwame Brown on the boards but with even less offense.

Do we really want a small version of Mark Glass Eatin Eaton for the 3rd overall pick?

He has taken a handful of midrange jumpers this week and brick most of the ones I have seen. His midrange game is more of a myth right now than it is an actual thing.
 
For those of you whining about Kanter, I would argue that he is better than Ostertag already.

I'm sure they do some kind of scrimmaging while they are in Santa Barbara. There are a lot of other players around them.
