Summer League Notes And Discussion

Just summer league and one game but I can't remember a rookie looking that impressive in his first summer league game in like ever. Haven't seen Ball yet but so far the best players I've seen are Mitchell at #13 and Adebeyo at #14.

I don't recall a Jazz rookie looking that good in his first game.

in regard to NWG, i have to wonder if they are giving the keys to Exum in SLC and then will hand them over to NWG in Vegas.

Mitchell could be a killer. Love his hesitations and confident step backs. Really like how calmly he finishes around the rim. He reads the game well and makes athletic plays look easy. Great anticipation on the steals. Decent pocket pass to Bradley too.

That's for sure. Best performances I recall were Hood a couple of years ago against Milwaukee in Vegas and Burkes in 2013 in Orlando, but they din't happen first game, and truthfully it was just scoring exhibitions not displaying the full package like this kid has.

Yeah I hope that's the case. I hope they give this kid a fair shake.

On another note, Wallace looked pretty good and had spot minutes at the three. Hope they bring in another vet (free agency) though if Hayward decides to walk. I got no problem with Ingles starting as long as he has a good backup (like Ingles was).

Really excited to have this guy aboard. He will contribute earlier than most rooks we had for the last few years for sure.

Wasn't there a report a Euro team had interest in NWG? If so, he may not play in Vegas. Not really concerned. Mitchell will be able to play some 1. Ingles has also done that. So Jazz are covered behind Rubio/Exum/Neto.

Need a big wing if Hayward leaves. Hood can score, but he can't defend. Guess Diaw would probably be back as our backup 4/5 injury insurance in case Favors shatters again.

Rudy is the man. Doing it all.

Damn, he flew back from San Diego and went to the summer league game?
Rudy, I already love you. Just Stop.
(But Chocolates, champagne and that french accent might get me to do something I'll most certainly regret in the morning).

Cool I hope that's the case cause he's a good player, protects our rights to him and we could still use him down the line. It also solves our logjam at the point right now. Let's give Neto another year now that his buddy Rubio is running the show.

Wow. Extremely impressive

And Dante not too shabby, either. Wouldn't it be fun to see those two off the bench? I know Quin staggers his starters/subs so we may never see all subs in together. But I'd go with Hood over Ingles in the starting lineup. I think Utah needs a volume 3 shooter alongside Rubio.

Subs:
PG: Dante
SG: Donovan
SF: Ingles
PF: Johnson
C: Favs or ?

That's a pretty good unit. And definitely one that could play with some pace while raining down 3's or P&R with Derrick. Hayward just HAS to re-sign. I am so in love with this team right now.
