Summer League Notes And Discussion

8 steals...he has something you can't teach. With Mitchell terrorizing the perimeter and Gobert owning the paint, we are setup well. Fast break points will be our enemy. Missed shots teams will be putting it in high gear so they don't have to face our half court defense.

Donovan has put the smile back on Quin's face:

That's about as smiley as he gets during a game lol

The Jazz could just go ahead and start Mitchell at the 2 and slide Hood to the 3. Bring Ingles and Exum off the bench, unless they want to play Exum/Mitchell to push tempo.

What an awesome video. Thanks for that. (I was at the pool with my daughter. Didn't realize the game was so early)
He showed a bit of everything in that game.
I love the play at the 3:30 mark. Blows by the mismatched defender, gets ivy the paint against two more defenders and finishes with the left handed up and under. Very impressive.

He was obviously feeling it from the outside this game too.

He confidently and comfortably hit a 29-foot or 30-foot 3-ball. Was nice to see. Also, the drives for and-1 plays and a couple solid jumpers off the bounce.

I think its going to be Rubio/Hood/Ingles/Favors/Gobert
with the 3 headed monster of Exum/Mitchell/Burks off the bench (which will be fun to watch).

I like taking some pressure off Mitchell initially. He's looked great in SUMMER LEAGUE,but he's also struggled shooting.

He and Dante had some great chemistry going in the Utah SL. I say bring both off the bench at the 1/2. Are opposing subs going to be able to match up with those two? Add Burks in to the mix at the 3 and JJ at the 4. That has the makings of a small, but dynamic group.

JJ comes in at the 6 min mark in my scenario for Favors. At the quarter break, the rest of the subs come in. Gobert sits after a full quarter, with Favs coming back in at the 5.

Starters:
Rubio, Hood, Ingles, Gobert, Favs (JJ after 6 mins)

Subs:
Exum, Mitchell, Burks, JJ, Favs (coming back in)

He has struggled with contested shots that aren't high percentage that he probably won't get the green light to take during the season.

I have no stats to back this but "good" shots within the offense like spot ups or attacking the rim or open jumpers he seem to be hitting at a fairly high clip.

Having NBA players creating shots for him will hopefully clean up his shot selection. If he buys in he'll be put in position to score most of the time.

Man, Mitchell had another amazing game today. I got there a little a bit late, half way through the 1st quarter but it didnt matter cuz when I got there, Mitchell started to get to work. All that I was thinking to myself was, damn Jazz better not be sittin' this guy at all. Let him play, man. Let the dude freakin' play. I was actually smiling throughout the whole game. I finally saw the match up between Baldwin and Mitchell and Mitchell was the elite player without a doubt.

It's Denver, man. Sorta like scamming a used car salesman -- what's the harm?
DL can talk trades now with 27 teams. Cross Denver and Boston off the list forever. Or maybe Denver's GM is into B&D. DL just takes out the whip and Denver submits to his demands.

Who has a better NBA career...Mitchell or Lyles and Lydon combined?

Cy, Charles Cooke had another good game for Minny. I still think he has the potential to be a decent rotation player.

I will actively root for Cooke to fail just so I can make fun of Ben Rubin's scrub *** for putting Kuzma outside the top 60 while having Cooke and Brown as the 13th and 14th ranked prospects.

Jordan Bell with an interesting stat line. just 5 points, but 11 rebs and 6 blks - and a plus/minus of +27. the +/- is notable because the next high +/- on his team was 12 and the next highest for the game was Perry Ellis at 15. very unusual for a guy to play 32 minutes, have a +/- of 27 (and be that much higher than everybody else on his team) and his team lose the game. IOW, when he wasn't in, GSW got killed.
