Summer League Thread

Lol… no. Wemby is a generational prospect. He’s the exception to the rule. Like I said if you put up great stats at a young age international chances are you will be good in the NBA. Spoiler alert Bilal didn’t as well as the prior busts from the same league. It’s a trend that isn’t in his favor. Does that mean he can’t be an exception as well? Of course not.

Point is, the players who came from a league in the last 5-10 years has no predictive utility of the future talent coming from that league. Production is one thing, but hammering in this point about the lack of recent success means nothing in terms of predictive utility.

College amatuers who can play in the nba though (if the nba were allowed to take them anyway) and grown men (who the nba could take if they wanted to) who cant.
How many of them can play in the NBA? Like... 2%? There are 1.2K D1 NCAA basketball players every year. About 50 get drafted? Half don't make it in the league... 25/1200... ~2%. For every player in college that makes the NBA you have 49 that don't. A ton of them don't become pros at all. And again - huge majority of them, even the ones that make the NBA, are very young and physically underdeveloped in college. ALL of the players in the French League a pros. Some of them are some of the best of those remaining 49 that didn't make the NBA. But this time they've actually been pros for some years and have worked on their games for years now and are not 18-19-20 year olds anymore.

You don't actually talk ball when you talk prospects. There's usually nothing to rebut. You just post a box score line. Sometimes you don't even do that and just make up the box score line

I wasn't going to mention it, but he actually read the box score wrong again haha. I'm sure it's an honest mistake, but the bare minimum of using box scores should be the ability to read a box score.

So if Bilal is really good, does the French League suddenly become a place where people won't entirely dismiss a prospects talent?
Wait... dude went 7th... most of us had him ranked in the teens at worst... that's entirely dismissing a prospects talent? If he flames out will people stop guessing that these teenagers in Euro leagues that don't get a big role and produce small basketball statistics are top 10 picks?

But to answer the general direction of your question... yes... you yourself have said its a copycat league. So if he is awesome and there is another prospect that looks like him in the French or any other Euro league next year then it will boost their draft stock.

I am going based off of this. What was read wrong?

Might want to double check the statements you made haha. It doesn't even make your argument worse, per say....just different. But you did read something wrong lol. Double check, you should be able to recognize it if you can read a box score.

He averaged 8/3/1, took 4 shots a game, was 0/5 from 3, and they got swept 3-0 with no game being within 7 points.

We were talking about the series again Monaco. Try to keep up please. At the bare ****ing minimum read posts before replying with 8 paragraphs.

For the record, good players from the French league drafted in the prior 10 years:

Frank Ntlikina:
Batum
Gobert
Fournier

Victor Wembanyama:
None

You tell me if looking at previous players drafted from the French League has predictive utility of future talent from that league.

You don't remember when you only reacted to things and Lopo accused you of being my alt?

Better times for you.
Sir it would have taken a smart person like 5 minutes to realize that @kcgar likes too many of my posts to be your alt...

I'm telling you, if you are able to read the box score you will easily be able to find where you made a small mistake. I promise you :)

You know you’ve lost when you’re nitpicking one stat when it actually goes against your argument. Waste of my damn time arguing against these clowns.

Cmon now.

I mean, what's a good way to show that previous French League talent does indeed have predictive utility for future talent. People hold the last 10 years of French league prospects against Bilal, is it not ok to think about what that has meant for other French league prospects?
