Summer Poker League 2016

Only if you agree to get way stoned and say more than 3 words at the table next time.

Highlight of last game:

Siro: You're franklin?
Me: yeah
Siro: I thought you would be 50 years old...

I don't know why but random thoughts make me laugh.

I talked to Broncster the whole time. I'm not exactly a loud person.

I can confirm this. He talked to me the whole time. Siro is a very entertaining conversationalist, I highly recommend everyone talking to him as much as possible when you meet him.

I'm guessing you're about 35, give or take. Feel like you've implied it numerous times through different posts over the years.

So yeah, if you're interested please let me know when you plan to pay the league fee. On Monday if it's looking like it's looking right now I will probably get with Gustavo and cut the league to ten players. If I haven't heard from you by then it'll probably be too late.

I would love to be part of this, but I just can't commit to it. I don't have much free time as it is, and a fixed schedule is virtually unheard of in my house.

So it's really looking more like a 10 person league at this point, which I think will be pretty awesome. If for anyone who was in for a 20 person league but isn't interested in a 10 person league just let me know.

It will change the payout structure for the tournaments and for the league winners. For 10 it will be 50/30/20 percent of the prize pool.

In so far:
me
Gustavo
Siro
devgchr
Jamezz
Austin
Adam

There are a few jazzfanzers I haven't heard from since league buy-ins started.

There are also a few people at work who've indicated they intend to play but haven't paid the league buy-in yet.

There are three people from work who have indicated that they are in but who haven't paid the league buy-in yet.

Sue just got the details and should probably get back to me soon. I have considered her a pretty solid "in" because of her previous participation, but I don't know.

There are a couple of Jazzfanzzers that I've heard from but who are not 100% in, and a few that I thought might be in but who are not.

If on monday there are more than 10 solid commitments then I'll make a strong push for going for it and try to get to 14 at the bare minimum. Has nothing to do with who fills the spots but 11, 12 or 13 players makes it not worth going past 10. 14-15 is acceptable, but if we go past 10 I'd really like to get to at least 16. I don't know if people really get why, but I'd rather go 10 stong than trying to scrape together 13. And we absolutely have enough to go 10 strong, dedicated, enthusiastic, reliable league players. So this is gonna be good, regardless. I'm just torn because I really thought there would be stronger interest and 14-15 players were already locked in. And I don't want to turn people away if we cut back to 10. I want everyone to play.
franklin, if you want to float the idea to some folks, please feel free. We've got open spots.

But I honestly think, based on where we're at, I'd be happy and my work would be done if we cap at 10. I'd have to turn a couple people away, but I wouldn't be spending the next couple weeks trying to convince people to have a good time for very little money and a modest time commitment.

Come here and play poker! It costs $20 and there is free beer!

We are officially over ten players. Would really like to get to at least 16. I think we can but I'll be out of town in a few days and won't be back until just before the first tournament.

I think this is gonna be a good league.

Playing poker at Gameface's house is worth any amount of driving or schedule shuffling you need to do (ask Dr. Jones)

To say he is a fantastic host would be to vastly understate the truth. His poker set up is better than many casinos, and perfect for tournament type games.

If you have even the slightest inclination, I would highly recommend finding an opportunity to attend.

Thanks man!

Here's a basic outline of what we're thinking for the poker league. If there's something here that makes it so that you don't want to participate I sincerely encourage you to suggest an alternative that would make this work for you.

$50 up front buy-in to the league. This money will be used to pay the league winners.

20 players max

Season tournaments will have a $20 buy-in, all of it goes to the prize pool for that game. Nothing withheld.

6 game season, starting in May, most likely on the 21st. Thinking of doing it the third Saturday of every month

May to Oct.

Saturday evening games.

Games will alternate between my house and Gustavo's house. Gustavo lives in Daybreak (about 10 min south of my house).

That's the idea. Nothing is 100% set in stone at this point. I just want to gauge interest.

If you know someone who might want to participate please send them my way.

If this goes well the plan is to do a winter league from Nov. - Apr.

Would 5pm work better than 7pm on a Saturday?

I hope I can welcome here. Send me address. K?

Still waiting on that buy in TPP...

Just over a week away. Seats available.

I'm really looking forward to playing half the league games at someone else's house. Expect a different player than you've seen before.

Since I'm in San Diego right now I'm gonna hit up my old poker stomping ground tomorrow. The Sycuan casino. I've probably played 50 tournaments there and I used to keep detailed records back then and I'm legit up a few grand from playing in their tournaments. Used to play their tournaments 3-5 times a week when I was in Port, they were just 15 min from my apartment. When I wasn't in port we'd play 6 nights a week on the ship.

I came back to Utah thinking I'd be playing poker way more than end up happening. Bought nice chips, built nice tables, finished my basement in a way that would work for multi table tournaments. Ended up not playing a whole lot of poker. Once a month is the most frequent it's ever been.

Ah... Not sure what I'm going on about. Just reminiscing since I'm back in San Diego.

But I'll be tunning up my poker game at the Sycuan.
