Suns Are "Eyeing" Favors

I don't think you understand how basketball works. Millsap is basically the perfect fit for this team right now. He doesn't need the ball, he can shoot, he plays defense at a near all NBA level. What more do you want?
He isn't shooting that well this season and this shooting is trending down. He is trending down in general.

He greatly under performs in the playoffs every year, which is what we want to improve for. He really struggles when it matters the most.

He is an UFA after this season. He will be offered more than we should or want to pay a player his age and for more years. And wanted to leave Utah before in not sure why he would want to be here this time.

His contact if we kept him would cost is probably Hill and Ingles and greatly handcuff is in a couple years since he is doing to try for a multi year contract this off season.

I guess if you think this is the year to go all in at the expense of the future then he is a good fit.

A couple month rental of Millsap is a bad fit. Why would you give up resources for that?

Look does any of you understand why George, Butler, and Cousins are on the trading block??

It is because these teams do not think that these players are stars enough worth investing over 200 million on over the next couple of years. Now look at us here in Utah is Gordon really that player?

Personally I say move him this offseason to the Celtics for some player and the Nets 1st round pick in this draft. Look for a real star to build around.

Im not arguing any of that except one thing. By all accounts, he really wanted to stay in Utah. He said he was really surprised the jazz didn't offer him a contact when he left.

If you think he is a bad fit because of his contract situation, that's a completely different story than what you've been arguing. Basketball wise, there probably isn't a better fit outside of Draymond green right now.

Contact reasons are the biggest issue but there are others. I disagree about wanting to stay in Utah. But that is all old news I don't really care about.

I greatly disagree that besides the contact situation he is the best fit next to Green. I would prefer someone who plays well in the playoffs and can shoot the three at a decent percentage.

He isn't that much of a stretch 4 anymore and was never that good from outside especially in the playoffs. His percentages are not good overall outside the paint.

Have you watched him in the playoffs the last few years?

FYI Millsap is shooting the same percentage as Exum this season. He is shooting the same percentage from three as Lyle's and would be one of the three worst shooting percentages on our team this year. Lyle's and Hood are the only ones shooting worse percentages overall.

Ron mex said that millsap is only shooting 24% from three. That's wrong. It's 33% this year. 32% last year.
You mean when I was talking about how his three point percentage dropped in the playoffs to 24 percent? Also 32 and 33 are poor numbers below the league average as well but it gets worse in the playoffs.

I agree with your point about sucking against Lebron. What is you excuse for the rest of his playoff career?
You either understand basketball or you dont.

As a guy who lives in Alabama, I'm very familiar with the Hawks as well. They have had a number of good players which has led them to season success. However, Millsap is the only special player for that team. Teague, Korver, Bazemore, Sefolosha, Horford and others are glorified role players when the team enters the playoffs.

So when a playoff series against a good team commences, that team puts all their focus on Millsap. If you stop him, Atlanta cant beat you. They arent good enough elsewhere. And for as good as Paul Millsap is, he's not a superstar who can simply carry his team. He makes glorified role players better. I'm pretty sure he led the Hawks in points, assists, rebounds, blocks and steals last year. If you concentrate on stopping him, you beat the Hawks.

He hasnt been this incredible in the postseason, but he hasnt flopped. The guy averaged 19.4 pts, 10.9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals and 2 blocks per game in the postseason when Atlanta made the East Finals. Pretty impressive.

Nobody's talking about Chandler and yet he's probably first on the list to get moved for the Suns. He's been very vocal about his dissatisfaction being on a rebuilding team. His contract is not terrible, he makes a million more this year and next than Favors and is not looking for an extension or restructure. This guy was brought in to entice Aldridge to sign because of his pedigree - anybody remember the Dallas championship? He may be old but he still plays young and exhibits none of the chronic injury woes that Favors does. And it's not like he hasn't played some power forward either. We make Diaw or Burks for Chriss part of the deal and we still have cap space as well as a team that can compete right now and maybe make a run in the playoffs. PUTS ON FLAME RETARDANT SUIT!!!!

Oh, and Millsap struggles against LeBron after getting his teams to the 2nd round or even East Finals. With Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver as leaders.

iirc Millsap also struggles when he plays against favors and the jazz.

I know, you have said that more than once. It also makes sense you havent read any of it.:D Just mostly post the stats. People tend to see the greener grass and have fond memories of Millsap like you.

Do you think Millsap is a good fit for the Jazz and we should trade for him right now? I do not.

It obviously depends on the deal. The on-court fit is juicy as hell. And I think that's obvi.

Millsap would fit extremely well on the jazz imo. Like perfectly.

Did I miss something? I'm pretty sure Atlanta pulled Millsap off the trade block and the last thing I saw online is an article about how resigning Millsap is the Hawks top priority. I personally think that Millsap became a better fit for us as Gobert's game developed but I don't think that's enough to get the Hawks' front office to make a deal. Favors was #28 on the SI Preseason poll and Millsap #15 in case anybody's interested.

Reports are that while the Jazz have received offers for Favors it's noting "even close" to fair. Deal is unlikely.
