Suns excited to get Horny as HC

Read the edits, sorry I didn't want to keep posting new useless posts.

Gotcha. I'll have to listen to it, but it sounds like he suddenly remembered what he was supposed to say, as oppose to something from the heart but who knows.

Welp, that's Gordon Monson's journalism for you.
Jeff clearly didn't mention Ty in his speech, but gave him praise later on. Sounds to me like Monson only listened to the press conference and not the interviews.

Bill Oram has an article on Horny is the Salt Lake Trib https://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsjazznotes/56376312-62/hornacek-jazz-dunk-coach.html.csp

Here is a quote: "Asked what he found to be Corbin's strengths, Hornacek cited the three-year coach's ability to relate to players and his patience in difficult situations.

Hornacek, who told Phoenix media he is typically reserved when it comes to criticizing players or being harsh said, 'There were times when I might have tried to jump a guy and get after them, but Ty was very much a players' coach and I think guys really appreciated that.'"

Horny had even more praise for Corbin in the article, but if you read between the lines, I think you can conclude that Horny didn't think much of Corbin as a head coach by the praise he didn't give for Corbin's lineups, substitutions, plays, or in-game adjustments. Or it could just be my imagination running wild.

So, Gordon and Favors (and Horny) were pissed that Al, Paul and Marvin were playing ahead of them and not giving effort, but Ty had Al, Paul and Marvin's back.

I got cha.

Relate to players?

How? By "loving them" and never holding them accountable?

I honestly can't think of a lovey dovey players coach who has won anything in sports. All championship coaches are grumpy, impossible to please, jerk offs. The hoodie, bill parcells, Tom coughlin, Phil Jackson, pat riley, doc rivers, pops, nick Sabin, coach k, Kansas dude, North Carolina dude, John wooden, bear bryant, Lombardi, urban Meyer, etc.

There's something about being a good coach which commands respect and even generates fear. Constantly loving your guys and never holding them accountable and blaming everything on spoiled fans and media doesn't accomplish that.
