"Surprised if Teague Doesn't End Up in Utah"

He will be less valuable at next years deadline. We shouldn't spend on a guy we intend to trade for less in a year.

Yes, less. But what's a playoff push this year + playoff position next year up to the deadline (or beyond) worth to you? This core needs to feel legitimacy together. Soon.

I love the people who say we don't want to rent a guy for a year and a half... Most contracts are 4 years long now he's got 35-40% of his useful life left on that contract. Also, what if Dante isn't good and we resigned Teague because we wanted someone good... Also what if he doesn't go for crazy money in 2017 and stays even though Dante is playing well?

If the price is right we do it. Hawks have lost fairly badly on their more recent trades... Those are the teams you look to do business with. Start with Burke, a 1st rounder and cap fodder and move the discussions from there. I think Teague would do well here... Doesn't make us a title contender but you can't base that as the reason not to do a trade... Getting Teague moves the needle for us substantially for the next two years.

Actually most contracts are now 3 years long.

$ 8 Million, on an expiring deal, for a guy who can absolutely prop up a bench for a contender.

...If it comes to dealing Teague in a year... I think we could get a late-late first out of it. That's not nothing.

Yeah, but if Atlanta really wants to trade him and no one is putting up the assets, they might lower their price. It's only going to be less lucrative (in all likelihood) to trade him next year when he will just be a half a year, or 1 year rental.

I hear Tibor Pleiss and a second rounder are available.

What does Burks do that no one else can exactly?

Make really cool layups?

It's not get to the FT line, because Hayward has shown to be one of the better players in the league at getting to the FT line (while Burks can do that too, and possibly better than Hayward, it's not a skill unique to Burks on this team).

The only thing I can really say on Burks is that he can score out of an ugly offensive set and doesnt need a system. So when the rest of the team looks like ****, Burks can still score. But I'd rather have a team that can consistently run good offense, like Hayward and Hood can provide, and that consistency would increase with a PG like Teague.

And Atlanta does have a need for a guy like Burks.

They dont have any wings who can get to the rim and draw fouls. Hell, if they trade Teague they dont have anyone besides Sap who can get to the FT line consistently.

SA who runs sets all of the time needed Manu Ginobli to help with breakdowns. Our sets run well when we play bad teams they don't fly against the elite teams. That is why Hayward gets lost in tough games because they blow up the sets and he doesn't have the ability to create.

Isn't Hayward one of the best iso players in the NBA?

Favors can block shots and so can Withey, does that mean we shouldn't have Gobert. Burks gets to the line and can create offense which is something G time has struggled with late in games. Burks is certainly more disposable than Hood and Hayward, but just because another player on the team can do something good doesn't mean you don't want more of that good thing.

Curry can shoot and so can Klay and it makes it better for them and everyone. Westbrook and Durant both draw a ton of fouls and everyone benefits and so does the team.

I think Burks is undervalued... not sure he much worse of a player than Teague. Burks fill needs for us I just think Teague fills a bigger need and does it in a way that might benefit others more.

no.

teague has no defense.

we need to keep the course with hood+hayward+gobert+favors+exum(when hes back). +burks off the bench

if we can get teague really cheap cool. Im not giving up any of our 6. **** that.

Isn't Hayward one of the best iso players in the NBA?

Hood is... I don't think Hayward is bad either, but sometimes struggles to get separation. I feel like Hood can almost always get a clean but contested look at a three, a pull up, or that running hook thing he does.

I really think Hood needs to be our crunch time creator or at least call a play where he or Gordon can get open and create... not sure why we force feed Gordon sometimes... I'm not sure he's the type that even wants that.

I know DL wouldn't because he's on a mission to "not give up on players" and "make it known to the league" that he won't ever do that.

Trading away Burks while he's still injured would sorta be like that.

I would trade for Teague though, I'd do it in a heart beat.

I would suspect, if talks have actually gone on, Atlanta is saying they want Hood for Teague and the Jazz aren't having it. They probably said something like "We got Burke and Burks on the table with our pick assets, call us back when you're ready to talk".

Agreed. Plus with Teague we're making the Playoffs and so trading this year's 1st rounder wouldn't be a big deal.

Is the guy in the report credible at all... never heard of him... also his tie is backwards and based on his office hutch he either has 45 kids or is a child molester.
