Sushi!

Too bad the women are so damn fugly!! Otherwise it would be prefect.

Those are just the ones we put on display to keep the riff-raff out of the town. Get out of downtown, it gets much better. =)

Uni is where it's at. King of nigiri.

When I was in Japan, we were at this rich ladies house and she ordered in some way pricey sushi for the 4 of us missionaries. I ate everything I could, but after the first piece of uni, I just couldn't bring myself to down the second. When she wasn't looking I threw it on my buddies plate and he finished it off for me. Ever since then, I just can't do the uni.
LogGrad, have you ever had it fresh? As in you are still standing in the ocean where you picked it up when you eat it?

Closest to fresh like that was from a tank in a sushi place in Atlanta. They were brought in alive and you could see them kinda crawling around and the chef would take one out and prepare it to order, then they served a raw scallop kind of "salad" with some mayo and other stuff inside the shell. That was the best I ever had. I know it is an acquired taste but for whatever reason I really like it.

Great article viny and the guy nailed it with this paragraph:

If you are every coming through let me know, we can get some sushi.

Awww, ****, Log. Im glad you liked it. Seriously, I love Reno. Las Vegas is for ****ing amateurs.

Anyway, I might take you up on that offer...I might be going on a road trip this summer...maybe Ill pass through.

Talking about great sushi in Utahr is like talking about the best waves at Lake Havasu.

Baltar is the smug, condescending, sniveling ******* from BSG. You remind me of him.

Did I mention he's also very short? I bet he could wear 511's as well.

Funny. I heard a very similar story about a mormon missionary in eastern europe - the homeowner served the best salted pork fat he had.

Yeah, I'll bet there are thousands of those stories from missionaries who serve in countries who cuisine is different from our own.

Perhaps this question could be its own thread, but what is the nastiest thing you have ever eaten? Personally, I downed some cows tongue (without knowing it of course). I was going to town on it thinking it was some sort of Chinese roast beef with gravy until my Chinese friend told me what it was. I had that taste in my mouth for at least 3 days.

You get this a lot when you get different cultures colliding. For me it was some weird jellied meat and egg dish, almost like salted gelatin over meat and eggs served cold. Yeah didn't go down very well.

This subject is all relative. I am not Asian and even though not natively from the US my food taste is pretty much western but to me cow's tongue (when properly cleaned and prepared) is a great delicacy. A friend cooked some last week and it was heaven. Tripe soup with extra garlic at lunch after heavy night of drinking is just a lifesaver. Young lamb's small intestines baked with red pepper are delicious. I do eat salted pork fat with garlic and strong "rakija" on the side once in a while. I think my boundaries were pushed when, back in my native country, my wife ordered and got served baked lamb's head. It comes with pretty much everything but the skin. Those large lifeless eyes looking back at me from the plate pretty much killed my appetite.
