Swat Lake City by Rudy Gobert

"Dear Penthouse" Loling...
The first time I met Karl was during a practice my rookie year. He was the nicest guy, very supportive. He told me he was excited to see what I could bring to the Jazz. We talked about big-man stuff and he offered to put me through some drills. His toughness in those drills was an eye-opening thing for me to see. When I think about it, I just remember his forearm. I was guarding him down low and he put a forearm on me. It was a rock. This might be the strongest man I’ve ever seen in my life. 50-year old Karl Malone. The strength he must’ve played with in his prime — I can’t imagine it. He made me want to be a better defender.

The article is pure gold. This quote is diamond-studded platinum.

Every post is a warning or a confirmation of a warning previously given... I applaud your consistency.

I'll be that way til my dying day. Thanks for the compliment, I swear that goes over 90-something% of the people i communicate with heads..

maintaining focus on 1,2,3,6,12 month, 2, 5, 10 and 20year outlooks makes my days much less tedious and monotonous(i'd say more humorous -- a lot of things that people find gripping or compelling seems trivial to me) and vastly more productive. I mostly spend my days adjusting those strategies/theories, ya know, thinking up ways to increase my accuracy on some game theory type ****. I honestly have a lot of other tricks up my sleeve but i prefer to communicate in that fashion, whenever my mind wanders to something i perceive as wasteful I snap back, to what people call vision, I'll forever 'keep my eyes on the prize'...

I hate to mention it but it's an elephant in the room.. like 60% of America's population is living paycheck-to-paycheck... To me, thats horrifying, i perceive that as materialism and marketing triumphing and trampling over common sense and vision... To me its like pace in basketball, the pace is too fast for people to think ahead, so they just go with the flow, and its what most of their friends are doing so it's easy to accept it as reality, but really it's like getting sucked into an undertow..

Bruh, he trashed Corbin. Read between the lines.

What did he say? I read the article but have no idea what you are talking about.

I know he said he hated losing and hated not getting minutes. Is that what you mean by trashing corbin?

By leaving it between the lines he didn't trash Corbin. He never even mentioned his name.

Corbin was a pretty **** coach. Snyder is one of the best coaches in the league. Gobert was extremely classy in the way he praised Snyder without directly saying Corbin was garbage. But yeah, we can all read between the lines. You're not revealing anything to anyone with your comments.

What uplifting writing. Put me in an awesome mood.

I'm thinking of a huge 11 foot tall bronze Rudy statue, in my yard perhaps. Yeah you don't know who this is? That's ok. He's a greek god.

This article reinforces a belief that I started to nurture towards the end of January. Basically, it goes something like this: We are currently at a time that we will look back on and remember as “the beginning” of a run for this organization that produces multiple world championships.

Rudy’s the anchor that every superstar looking for a ring can depend on. Donovan is the superstar that has already created lots of good will and friendships with other players across the league. These 2 are attractive as hell to play with if you’re on the outside looking in. Our ownership is top notch, our GM is top notch, our HC is a top notch in-game strategist and our coaching staff as a whole might be the best developmental staff in the entire league.

Literally, every single metric to measure an up-and-coming contender is in place. Our time isn’t just coming, it’s here, right now!

This is only the beginning.

Rubio has got Rubio chants, Donovan has gotten MVP chants this season(both deservedly so).....Rudy probably deserves his due. We all know how important Rudy is to this franchise, sometimes it seems we take him for granted a bit because what he does isn’t offense which is much more flashy. A nice chant towards Rudy is probably overdue, he’s the most important and impactful player on this team and THE reason we are even playing still.

Pretty sure Mr. Gobert knows how much the fans appreciate him. I'll root for him until the end of his career, no matter where that may be. Same for DM, Favors, Ingles, & several of the new additions.

The Jazz character slogan is finally paying off.

This is our most likeable team since the Stockton/Malone days, by far. I mean no comparison. You have to go back to the late 90's to find a team that has endeared itself this much to the fan-base. Just a great time to be a Jazz fan, win or lose. After all, in the end it is more about the relationship to the fans than really anything else. Of course we want that ring, we want to see Rudy and DM and QS and ALL of this team...hell I am DYING to see Dave Stockton...raise the trophy. But even if they don't ever quite get there the ride is going to be a hell of a lot of fun. Seriously haven't been this giddy or twitterpated about the Jazz since Stockton hit the shot that sent us to our first finals.

Glad no one walked into my office while I was reading this. It might be hard to explain why I have tears running down my face for a Utah Jazz article. Out of the 35+ people that work in my office, I've only found one other that is a Jazz fan here. I should get another job.

Loved this article and can't wait for tonight.

Seriously. Having zero hope for a championship is making it oddly funner too.

He said he was surprised Quin knew who he was and watched his French games and was excited to use him. It made it seem like his previous NBA coach experience that wasnt the case.

Great article. Yea I got misty-eyed. Rudy is a Jazzman for life and will go down in history as the greatest Jazz center. I think the Jazz fans should start the Rudy chants after every block.
