Syracuse Pedophile Controversy

The one accuser I referenced was on Sportcenter last night as part of "Outside the Lines" I believe. He said he slept with Fine's wife and has a recorded conversation between himself and the wife that is pretty damning to Fine, IMO. Whether it is admissible in court or not, I have no idea. Apparently this kid even had his own bedroom in Fine's old house... much like the Sandusky situation.

As a parent, how the hell do you allow your kid hang out 1:1 with some old guy???

This is going to play out like an episode of Jerry Springer.

curiouser and curiouser...

...Tomaselli, 23, also alleges that he was abused by his father, Fred Tomaselli, in the months before he said he met Fine. His father denies that he abused his son and said he doesn't believe his son ever met Fine.

Fine denies all of the allegations and has not been charged. Tomaselli faces sexual abuse charges in Maine involving a 14-year-old boy. He was arrested in April on charges including gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, visual sexual aggression against a child and tampering with a victim. He has pleaded not guilty.

"The abuse from my father and Bernie Fine led to a lot of issues with me setting boundaries with children," said Tomaselli, who declined to say more about the case against him.
Tomaselli said he has been estranged from his father since he was about 19. His father told WHCS in a phone interview that his son made up the story about Fine, saying his son "never went to the game in Pittsburgh. It's all totally fabricated, for whatever reason."

Tomaselli said he met Fine at an autograph session — another thing his father said didn't happen — where he said Fine invited him to go on the road trip to Pittsburgh....

A lot of parents are either:

#1 Not involved at all with the raising of their kids. Apparently they feel like their job ended once the child was born? Maybe they're just too busy looking to buy that extra Lexus?

#2 Too involved, meaning that even though they know that being 1:1 with weirdo old dudes, they have a distorted view thinking that this will only open up opportunities for their child to have a career, get to college, etc. Just look at how many parents put their kids through hell in attempts to get that one scholarship or get that one job or to live through them.

I know of one parent locally, who took his son out of a perennial state championship contender, to play for another HS team. Not only was this kid a returning starter, receiving awesome coaching, but his whole social life was at the school.

The kid cried on multiple occasions as his dad would charge the practice field and start trouble.

Eventually, the dad forced his son to transfer, lost a lot of his friends, went to a crappy football program, didn't get coaching, and didn't get that scholarship...

I know that this isn't the same as having sex with a kid. But what kind of social, emotional, and physcological damage did this kid suffer because of his dumbass dad?

Parents can be pretty idiotic.
