Talking about Roster makeup

I am in favor of bring in a veteran big and pg because it is good for the team to be in competitive games. Burke may be ready to start at some point during the season but I think we would lose a lot of games while he is figuring out how to play nba level D.

It doesn't have to be someone spectacular, but someone better than Tinsely and Watson.

Lindsay said that Gobert and his agent made it clear they want to be in the NBA NOW. This year. He will be with the team. Also, from what a lot of people are saying, I would almost be surprised if Neto DOESN'T make the team this year. This is what I see:

PG: Burke, Tinsley, Neto
SG: Burks, Foye, scrub
SF: Hayward, Marvin, Carroll
PF: Favors, Marvin, Evans
C: Kanter, Gobert

There is 13 players. Resign Foye, Carroll, Tinsley.

So do you think that McNeal will just be cut or did you not account for him? Or is he the "scrub"? Even if he isn't that is still only 14 players.

No to Watson, but yes to Tinsley. Jamaal is perfect. He's cheap, will sign a 1-yr deal and already knows the Jazz plays (even those we didn't use because of our "Alfense"). Tinsley will start the first 20 or so games while Burke gets acclimated. He also won't gte upset when his playing time starts to get reduced. Jamaal is like having a player-coach. He can't shoot, but he's an intelligent player and a helluva passer. And that makes him a perfect mentor for Burke and Neto.

Burke-Neto-McNeal-Tinsley
Burks-(Hayward)
Hayward-Williams-Carroll
Favors-Evans
Kanter-Gobert

12 spots, assuming Carroll and Tinsley return and Murphy does not. Also assuming McNeal sticks. I see the Jazz carrying 14, given the injury to Marvin Williams. They'll add a SG (please don't let it be Foye) and a big. Both players will probably be given 1-yr non-guaranteed contracts, allowing either to be released as soon as Williams is healthy. Jazz will want to have 13 at the deadline so up to two players can be added without having to give up anyone in return.

Add me to the list of those who don't see Burks as a starter on a good team. A solid back up at the 2 and in some situations the 1. Just who he is.

I'm fine with that. I think he can be a quality 6th man. So next year the Jazz should be getting their franchise wing in the draft or even adding one by using cap space. Instead, Lindsey made it sound like the Jazz are going to try to bring back Jefferson and/or Millsap.

Both. Could be the scrub or cut. Aren't Neal and Raul going to Orlando? I wonder if whoever plays better gets to stay.

Ill be dressing up as a Jazz player for halloween, so I am gonna need some roster makeup too.

Sounded like from the press conference that Raul may not be playing for the Jazz next season, they may keep him stashed away.

It sounded like Dennis Lindsay and Raul said he would be in Orlando. Raul said he wanted to stay, Lindsay said they wanted to see how he played in Orlando. Like I said, I don't think either party knows what is going to happen yet. I think we all will know in two weeks. If he plays well, he stays. If not, he goes overseas to get better.
