Tanking

Do you think it's worth the pick or the picks for all that?

How would you take the Cavs example?

Apparently some of their fans are fed up with the whole high draft pick deal. I understand that this is a rich class, but this sure might well be an example the other franchises might want to learn some lessons from.

not worth it

now, i would rather have hornacek and 14th pick

I too am more fond of the idea that puts a good system, high awareness of basketball intelligence, good team chemistry and ball movement above athletic and individual superstars. But I would go for the option to let the tanking year be praised as it is already over, pocket the earning which is the draft pick and hire a Euro coach with a promosing solid systematic basketball mastering background. This is the perfect time to so this and I would be disappointed if the Jazz hire another inexperienced coach candidate to blew everything they have been patient for.

I see tnaking as somehting San Antonio did. A one time thing to nab a great player then build toward a winner. Tanking does not equal a culture of suckage in my opinion. Suckage like the Kings, Cavs or Magic.

So you have to build on it with promising high fundemental players that will break through their ceilings in a clever coach's system. So good that even when you put scrubs in it, they will perforn at their best, as being attached to that system very well.

I think you're missing the whole point. The fact is Tyrone Corbin screwed the whole jazz organization by not playing along and getting us a top three pick. By him playing the veterans and doing his lousy *** lineups that douche bag cost us a franchise player! That is what San Antonio did. Jazz brass are just as much to blame by not putting Corbin in his place or firing him earlier.

So my answer is yes I'm all aboard tanking one or two years if that's what you really going to do. Playing this game when your half-and-half out that's not tanking that's just plain stupid!

The lousy *** lineups is what GAVE Utah the #4 pick to begin with.

Please, enlighten me on how the Jazz could have "outlost" either Milwaukee or Philadelphia in order to land at #2 (third after Cleveland wins the lottery)? That would have required at least seven more losses. Ummm...let's see: trade Favors and Hayward for 2nd-round picks like Philly did with Turner and Hawes? Oh yeah, and the Jazz also made the mistake of picking a non-injured player in the 2013 draft.

Or how about Milwaukee? I'm not even sure how to get to their level. You have to be "right" on so many fronts: injuries, pot-smoking franchise player, guys who sign FA contracts and then play like rookies.

As for holding the #4 vs. #5 pick, it doesn't really matter. Exum is NOT viewed as one of the top-tier players, at least not according to Dennis Lindsey.

Last season wasn't a complete waste...granted, we still don't fully know how good our young core is, but hell, at least we learned that Richard Jefferson and Marvin Williams can still play in this league.

Solid post.

I like to bitch about the jazz not tanking hard enough but there really isnt much they could have dont to compete with the bucks and philly.

I mean we kept corbin around so that is some pretty good tanking right there and it still wasnt enough

Uhhhmm the tank went better than anyone could've asked for (cept for the season ending Minnesota debacle) we just didn't move up in the lottery.

The tank was successful, we just didn't get lucky.

Dorks.

Agreed.

I remember thinking we would finish between 8th and 12th lol.

Thought there was no way we would out tank boston LA or sactown.
