Taxes and beer

Either one of those would be far superior to the existing tax code.

I'm with you on this.
The current tax system is way too complex and should be simplified.
I don't even care if that puts people out of work, we need people to work on something useful, not to pretend to teach people how to file their taxes.

Exactly. The complexity of it all is a joke. They have conditions set on the conditions that conditions are set on to preempt conditions. Two big problems with revamping the tax system. 1) the sheer size and complexity of it all. It will be incredibly difficult to account for every instance that the current tax code addresses. This leads to 2) politics. No matter what kind of reform to the tax code is attempted there will be those against it that can and will lobby politicians to kills it. Does it spread out the tax burden more fairly (as in guy #4 pays the same 15% that guy number 10 pays) then you will have groups saying that it only favors the rich. If it removes tax incentives and shelters and write-offs you will have groups lobbying it because it penalizes the rich. I think we need some change but don't think it will happen any time soon.
 
Do you guys have any idea what would happen to the already dismal fiscal situation for the U.S. if there was a flat tax? Or what would happen to the poor?

Every time I read these types of threads I wait for the 2 or 3 extra-angry-at-society folks to either add the tiniest bit of substance to their pure emotional appeal, or, to get into incentives and how they relate to advancement. It never happens.

Do you really think people avoid acquiring mountains of wealth because they don't want to pay more taxes? Get real. Why should the well-being of the citizenry be tossed aside? Are you ****ing kidding me? That's one of the pillars of reasoning for the sheer existence of this nation. If you (or your ilk, at least) are you going to be constantly up in arms about the constitution, how about you read the preamble?

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

When you toss aside the general wellfare and domestic tranquility of the people, you get 19th century America. The playground of the free-market at it's purest. Your arguments are heinous and villainous at worst, and very poorly thought-out at best.

It's more about the constant whiny drivel that comes from your mouth. I can put up with teenagers like you with a god complex, but have low tolerance when you start putting words in my mouth and being a know-it-all *** about it. Like we tell all the teenies at one point: Grow up, self proclaimed genius. You understand things great when they fit into your tiny little sphere of existence, but there is this great big world out there outside of you. Think outside the box, young whipper snapper.
