Tell Us Who Got Banned Thread Closed?

I've seen it on Usenet and in a few comments sections on blogs. It's not a fanciful notion.

Agreed.

I've told people all the time if they want a totally unmoderated place, go to usenet. Back in the day both me and shockingly Colton (not shocking in one sense that like me he's a computer geek from the way back when, but shocking that he actually put up with some of the stuff that was posted there, though that group was milder than most) used to post on the alt.sports.basketball.utah-jazz group. Part of me liked the unmodded atmosphere, but there were pitfalls there too. It was easy for clowns to change their name (though eventually there was an art into figuring out who they were), but it also just led to threads that were nothing but massive massive trolling (typically it would be someone cross posting to both the Jazz and Lakers group about either how all Jazz fans were polygamists or how many men did Magic sleep with to get AIDS or other various vile things, but with any language anyone wanted to use just to see the fireworks between the two). It even got on my nerves after a while, and I can tolerate most anything.

I don't recall posting there much, but I did read it, back in the late 90s. I'm happier here.

It was certainly easier for me to ignore that type of stuff when I didn't have any moderating responsibilities!

Actually, come to think of it I *was* a moderator for a usenet group back in the day--soc.religion.mormon. Because of the way usenet was structured, we couldn't edit posts after the fact. Therefore having a moderated group meant that every single post had to be approved by a moderator before it was actually posted. Certainly limited the overall number of posts we could handle each day. (There were ~5-6 mods, if I recall correctly.)

What's the procedure for a self imposed ban?
It's been fun , no hard feelings k, but I'd like to take a long break to better focus on other hobbies. I let this place take too much of my time.
Make it happen mods!
TIA.

The simplest self-imposed ban is the one where you just take a break and come back when you're ready without getting the mods involved.

Irregardless , these are my wishes.
I am sure there are some mods who would take pleasure in banning me, so I doubt it is much of a burden to do it.

OK, you're banned. Mostly...
