Neto/Hood starting over Burke/Burks ???

1st Trey Burke has to the eye looked his best and Alec Burks has been here the longest of the 4.But the injury to Exum took away the length /speed away from defending all the great PG's in the League.I don't think Utah will rise to the #1 defense as it did those last 31 games of last year.So Utah has to make up for it on offense.Neto is a much better passer than Burke ,Burke's skillz are turning moreso in to being a scorer.Where being a pt. producer for the 2nd unit suits him and he doesn't have to run the 1st units offense and dictate pace.Burks along with Burke just are not very good at defense. In a conference of high scoring teams all 4 have their strengths but I think Neto and Hood might be the better duo on defense to start the game and Neto better at getting some good pace going in ball movement up court.
This is in starting the game ,4th quarter play might be Hood and Burks closing.

Nothing on ESPN, twitter or Hoopshype about this.

But let's say that the starters are :

Gobert
Favors
Hayward
Hood
Neto

I don't think that leads to a "controversy". I think SNyder is smart enough to sit down Neto, Burke, Hood and Burks and explain things. All 4 of them will get good mpg.

Yeah, not sure how you know Neto/Hood are starting.

You may have missed the double question mark "??" in the thread Title. Indicated to me that he was not claiming to know it but instead putting a reasonable conjecture out for discussion. Good thread, in my opinion.

That may work, but you are talking about NBA egos and starting is part of pedigree and brand. Moreover, Burke has said many times that he expects that his role and minutes will increase this year and it is not clear to me that will be the case.

After the preseason Burke just had wouldn't you expect to start? He clearly out played Neto. Not to say that will be enough to start, but I'm sure for him it was.

Anyways what makes people think Burke won't willingly play off the bench when he did so last season?

Also talking Burke who adjusted to a bench role last year, a rookie, a sophmore and a player returning form injury. Not to mention the chemistry within this team.

It is not about who is the better player. It is about what combos, rotations and line ups are best for the team. Burke had a great preseason but the Jazz sorely need his scoring fromt he bench.

What part of my post gave you the impression that I don't understand roles? His point was that Burke expects to start. I was just saying giving his performance he should want and expect to start.

And I am saying that it may not be that much of an issue. I think Burke understands how Snyder works and it isn't as easy as being the better player.

Burks is better at creating shots than Hood so I'm fine with having him come off the bench. Hood will stretch the floor and keep the paint open for Favors and Gobert.

This didn't answer my question. I get everything you're saying. Which is why I asked why you directed your post at me. I pointed out how well Trey accepted his "6th man" role last season.

For me Trey fits the starting line up better than Neto. I think Burke faciliting skills are being vastly underrated. He take the shots defenses give him which make sense for the defense since he has shot then so poorly.

This is pretty much a no-brainer. I don't want Burke taking shots from G-Time or Favors or Hood/Burks. I want him taking shots from Withey or Booker or Millsap.

Neto has already displayed more court vision and defensive tenacity than Burke ever has. I think you start Neto at 18-22 mpg. Give Burke 18-22 mpg off the bench and go with the 3 wing set the rest of the way.

Maybe you should read the thread title again.

I agree with it. Burks lack of three point interest lets him be just a slasher in the 2nd unit. Burke is a low efficiency scoring PG and will probably be a 2nd stringer the rest of his career.
