This trade is ridiculous. For starters we do not want to tie up our mid-level on a mediocre player like Brandon Rush. If you offer 4/25M which is the roughly more than MLE that was suggested you have just signed a millstone around your cap space. KOC needs to find players like Danny Greene, Josh Howard, Demarre Carrol for minimum or close to minimum. Don't get me wrong I like Rush, but unless you can get a player like him for 2/$8M or 3/$10-$12M you are overpaying. If he is your starter, you are a mediocre team... if he is your bench guy you are okay.
I would use our cap space to just take on the Trevor Ariza contract... Sure he makes $15M over the next two but he is signed for only two. Also, it is very possible that you can pick up the #10 pick by taking on that contract... (perhaps we would have to include a pick lottery protected next year) but the point is... is we don't have and we don't want to sign a mediocre SF for more than 2 years. With this trade we can take a better player than Marshall, perhaps Lillard and we didn't have to give up our near all stars Jefferson and Millsap.
As far as picking up Marshall I am not convinced he has the athleticism to make it... but lets assume he does... a simple swapping of picks somewhere between 14-21 should do the trick.... I personally think Marshall will fall out of the top 20 based on his lack of athleticism. I think Mark Cuban would be all over trading #17 if we were to use our TPE to take on Odoms contract with the 2.5M buyout (saving him around $4M in cap space). In fact I think this is such a no brainer for Cuban to retain his cap space that I wouldn't be surprised if he would offer to pay the buyout just for the chance to keep that $4M in cap space to lure Deron Williams. KOC could easily be waiting for draft night to see if a player or two that he likes falls to 17 for him to scoop up.
I would love to see Lillard slip which I think is possible although not likely, Royce White, Zeiler, Terrence Ross, Quincy Miller etc. Somebody will fall and we can scoop them up without spending a dime.
