The Batman

So for anyone keeping track, how many Batman movies have their been at this point?

Remember when it was a joke how many Rambo movies there were?

I'm not trying to just poop on this but I've watched like 4 superhero movies in the last 15 years. I was ready for this **** to be done 15 years ago but I feel like it's never going to end.

Superheroes are kid ****. It's a dumb premise imho.

Not counting the old serials:

Batman: The Movie (Adam West)
Batman (Michael Keaton)
Batman Returns (Michael Keaton)
Batman Forever (Val Kilmer, and, BTW, why was this the 3rd one in the series? Shouldn't it have been the 4th?)
Batman and Robin (George Clooney (And this was called Batman and Robin when it also included Batgirl. Joel Schumacher can die screaming in a fire.)
Batman Begins (Christian Bale)
Dark Knight (Christian Bale)
Dark Knight Returns (Christian Bale)
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Affleck, and the worst title ever)
Justice League (Ben Affleck, Sure, we'll call this a Batman movie, whatever)
Joker (Is this a Batmovie? Maybe, OK)
The Batman (Sparkle Vamp dude, Pattinson, yeah)

Yeah, call it 12 Batman movies. And, when they're good, they're really good, and superheroes in general can be used as a wonderful metaphor for all kinds of things (look at Watchmen - the comic, or the TV show, not so much the movie) but it's too easy to just focus on the flashy parts.

Fleshy parts? Uma Thurman? I actually fell asleep in the cinema during that. The Christian Bale ones were ok, the rest are garbage.

The Michael Keaton ones were good altho there were definitely some dumb parts, and Joker was good. The rest, I don't care if they go out of print.

I love the avengers movies. So so good. Also pretty much all the individual marvel movies. Iron man, thor, dr strange, spiderman, captain america, etc. The Batman begins, Dark Night, and Dark Night Returns were close to perfection. The joaquin pheonix joker movie was great.
Ya there are a lot of them. For a reason. They are really well liked.

Saw it tonight and loved it. Very gritty and dark. Kind of got vibes from 7even all those years ago with Pitt and Freeman. Watch it and see if you feel the same.

Not sure Pattinson would have been my choice, but it’s worth a watch. Colin Farrell is terrific as always.

You completely lost me at the Phoenix joker movie. Otherwise you nailed it.

At this point, they're above the curve of Sturgeon's law (which he made about science fiction specifically, but applies to all art):

Eh, it's a common fantasy that obviously is compelling enough it has staying power. To be more than we are when deep down everyone is hugely insecure, existential **** and all. To be able to be in control, to do what needs to be done, to be the hero. Not that far from porn tbh. It's the fantasy that drives it. It just isn't your kind of porn.

Utter tosh. The Nolan films are watchable. Can't remember the last action film i enjoyed, maybe the Edge of Tomorrow?

Val Kilmer and George Clooney are the same continuity as Michael Keaton, which is why they are called the 3rd and 4th.

Right, I mean, why was the 3rd one called Batman FORever? Did they not notice the obvious pun? And why talk about Robin but ignore Batgirl? They should have flipped the titles, it would have all made more sense.

Saw it yesterday. It's not a bad movie, but at 3 hours long it barely exceeds average. During the movie I didn't feel bored and the pacing was solid, but nothing really stuck out to me as being special.

The car chase scene was absolute ***. It's definitely a lot more "grounded" of a Batman movie(and I kind of liked that for the fight scenes), but the scene was just filmed poorly.

All the actors did a good job. I liked the mood and atmosphere. I think the script was just dull.

I would recommend people who like Batman movies to see it, but I will probably never watch it again. I think it's worth watching once though.

,
This is basically a "the bad guy won" movie, right? The Riddler did everything he wanted and Batman basically did nothing that wasnt planned for him to do.

Going to be very hard to top the dark knight. That will go down as the best Batman movie ever. Any hero is only as good as the villain, and the dark knight had the best villain in the entire Batman universe.

It was OK.
Much darker than any other I’ve seen.
I have a hard time with Batman movies… Most of them cast Gotham in the light of an absolute hellhole. Why would anyone in their right mind not hitchhike the hell out of that city? I can’t think why anyone would live there by choice.
