The Bell Situation

They could amnesty him?

As everyone knows, we have a glut at SG with the faster-than-expected development of Burks. Bell is very competitive so of course wants to play, but he'd be a fool to complain publicly while his team is on a winning streak. He has in fact at times helped the team, both on the court and off. His veteran leadership can still be of value down the road, so I agree with the Jazz keeping him. Injuries can happen to anyone at any time. I do NOT think Bell will be a distraction; he is a professional, allbeit a very competitive one...

We're 5-0 without him. And it's a good thing he didn't play against the Lakers, when Kobe himself had a horrible game, because we would have heard Raja lauded for his defensive prowess and had it reaffirmed "how important" Raja is for setting the defensive tone and example for this young team.

Great point. Yikes, that would have been annoying.

I think the Jazz are going to deal with Raja in the off season. Either they are going to trade him or cut him. I doubt they buy him out unless he is willing to give back some money. I don't see that happening. The reality is Burks is a better player and the coaching staff finally knows it. I agree Carroll has played well enough to give Burks or CJ a rest. I like the rotation of Burks/CJ/Hayward/Carroll. It will be interesting what Ty does with the Tinsley/Watson situation at PG. I prefer Tinsley but I still like Watson. I guess it is a nice problem to have.

Just one other thing, is it me or are you guys still surprised that teams cannot stop the Watson to Evans dunk fest. He got two more dunks?

What would lead you to believe he won't be a distraction. This answer is a bit of a distraction already and he has been a distraction both earlier this season and last season. His veteran leadership is highly overrated and the Jazz really do have little use for him.

They don't stop it because they don't scout it. It is not like they use Evans very much, so he is not on the radar when scouting the Jazz. If they used him more that play would be taken away pretty quickly.

I love this about you Brown Notes, you just never dither around with your opinion. You just come right out and say it. LOL

What I meant was it's not really a big deal. Raja can contribute but he's not a key component. He's been better than generally given credit for this year but Utah is obviously not missing him.

I'm not sure what the issue is, Raja was a starter, got hurt, is healthy but not getting minutes due to coaching decisions - not his health and basically said as much.

The Jazz are playing better without him and Burks is showing alot getting consistent minutes so it's obviously the right move by Ty, but with Howard going down the Jazz are one injury away from needing Raja back in the rotation to provide depth. As long as he's working hard in practice and not getting into it with Ty, I don't know why the Jazz would send him home.

When I say Raja won't be a distraction, I'm meaning a distraction to the team. He is not going to the media to whine; the media is going to him and trying real hard to stir up a story, but Raja so far has properly deferred to the Jazz brass... He may not like it due to his competitiveness, but he needs to put the team first, just like Tinsley has all season. Just practice hard, encourage and educate his teammates, and be ready...

Yes they could. But for 3 mil that's an expiring contract next year? no they shouldn't.
If they want they can trade him in the offseason.

Amnesty needs to be saved for something more significant than Raja's contract.

Agree. The amnesty I think is a one time deal, and would seem like a wast to use it on Bell.

I don't see why KOC would care if Bell joined a contender or not.... I don't see him helping anyone, and I doubt there would be much interest. Remember--the Clips chose NICK ****ING YOUNG over Raja as their bandage two guard.

NICK ****ING YOUNG.

Nick Young is very talented and a great shooter. Yeah, he is a chucker, but he stool shoots in the high 30's as one. Imagine what he can do with Chris Paul setting him up?

So who on the roster would you amnesty? Or who on the roster would you trade to acquire someone we'd amnesty, instead of using it on Bell?

Barring a lotto pick, is this the future wing rotation of the Jazz? Hayward and Burks as starters and CJ and Carrolle = backup? I believe all of those players are 24 and younger.
For the record, I love that wing rotation.
