The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

This is more great news!

This is a couple generations overdue
It also does not legalize recreational marijuana on the federal level. Also, not sure how I feel about this:

“By rescheduling cannabis, the drug would be studied and researched to identify concrete medical benefits, opening the door for pharmaceutical companies to get involved with the sale and distribution of medical marijuana in states where it is legal”.

Engaging earnestly with a troll is like arguing with a moron. Eventually he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Lol. Of course. Thing is, I’m not used to trolls writing book length tomes, doing that, at least in my view, requires an actual opinion, lol. After all, tomes require actual work and expenditure of time, another thing I don’t always associate with trolling. His long replies(yes, I too have written a tome or two, lol) is a reason why I believe he has an ernest side, and actually believes some of what he argues(OMG, is it possible? lol). And now and then, his ernest opinions intrude, lol, and overwhelm his mindless and self centered trolling, despite his best efforts to keep it simple and just go up my arse sideways, lol.

Who wants years more of this? They can’t even govern themselves. Honestly, the GOP is in its best position, politically and financially, when they aren’t in charge and can act as Monday morning QB and fundraise on Fox News. There are real issues that need to be addressed but we can’t because the party that controls the House has an insurgency of anti-democratic lunatics who care more about their brand than governing.

I’d like to see Roe reinstated nationally, voting rights expanded, some border/immigration issues resolved, and some semblance of accountability for the Supreme Court made.

But we can’t do that because the House is just so dysfunctional. We need to elect more Dems to retake the House, blow the filibuster in the Senate, and get actual work done.

So desperate to be important.

That is the difference between the political right and the political left. Both sides have their cuckoo birds but only the political right is willing to call out their own. There have been a slew of pieces in right-wing media attacking MTG. The NY Post even put her on the front page wearing a Soviet hat.

That same thing doesn't happen on the left. You will not see MSNBC or Salon.com do a similar treatment to 'Taliban Tlaib' when she openly supports terrorism with the statement "there should be no peace on stolen land" or when her supporters chant "Death to America" here in the United States. MTG is an embarrassing moron who is clearly out of step with the political right as evidenced by how viciously the political right is attacking her. Rashida Tlaib is not out of step with the political left as evidenced by the deafening silence in left leaning outlets.

That sounds a lot different than

I'm concerned that "He committed to putting American boots on the ground in Gaza"

That sounds like troops being put in place to engage in warfare.
Does it sound more clear when coming from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin who said there would be 1,000 armed US soldiers on the pier within small arms range of Hamas, and with a supposed green light to return fire when they are fired upon? Per the Secretary of Defense, there are troops being put in place to engage in warfare.

Media literacy 101

Just because you see something on social media that you agree with, doesn’t mean that the source is credible. Especially when the source is named MAGA69 and the profile picture is a penis shooting an AR15.

@Red just finished reading this book and I cannot recommend it enough. In a time of great social and political upheaval, the door opens for extremists to wreck institutions. The actions of leaders, both pro democratic and anti democratic can have far reaching consequences.

Who knew that France’s (invasion) and occupation of the Ruhr region of Germany, Weimar’s not so secret support for resistance, which led to runaway inflation and eroding trust in democracy, come back to bite everyone a decade later? Likewise, we live in a time post 2008 and now post 2020 where trust in institutions and experts have eroded and large segments of the population “feel” that throwing democracy away for authoritarianism will benefit them.
