Trump being trumpy again. Making the Queen of englands death about himself. He believes that Joe Biden and his wife were given poor seats for the funeral in a show of disrespect and that if he were president he would have got a much better seat.
What actually happened was that Bidens car got stuck in traffic and they took the seats available them upon arrival. They just sat down and didn't complain like normal humans.

I can only imagine what would happen if trump showed up and wasn't given the seat he thought he deserved. Probably would have thrown a fit/tantrum and made enemies of our allies.

So, are we better off elevating and promoting the Big Lie and QAnon, because I’m pretty sure the majority of intelligent people reject both as nothing but BS? Both ideas are out there in that free marketplace of ideas. And if people who know better object, just “eff them”? Should states rewrite their school history texts to reflect a belief that both the Big Lie and the QAnon narrative are true? And if noted historians object, “eff them”?

Nobody said, btw, to “blindly trust” anybody. But intelligent people often possess critical thinking skills that they can count on to separate wheat from chaff, fact from fiction. Or at least bring those critical faculties to bear, to the best of their abilities. And authorities are questioned all the time, in their various specialities. It’s called peer review, (although even that has been running into questionable scenarios in recent years, the pressure of publish or perish). So, I’m not sure thinking people just accept authority for authority’s sake as a rule of thumb. (But personal biases can certainly eat into objectivity) A lot of misinformation was spread, including by Trump, regarding Covid 19, and medicines/remedies to treat it. So, when medical authorities said “but this is nonsense”, in so many words, regarding false claims and phony cures, then the correct reply should have been “eff them”? Why? Why say “eff them” to medical elites trying to stamp out the idiotic suggestions?

I guess I’m just at a loss to understand why United States will be far better off elevating Stupidity as some kind of national standard we should aim for, and any “expert elitist” should maybe just move out of the country and find someplace where truth is actually the standard aimed for. I know Americans have had a very pronounced anti-intellectual attitude, dating to the earliest colonial times(intellectuals as such offered no practical skill set in a frontier environment), but from where I stand, as a lifelong observer of the American scene, our willingness now, in these first decades of the 21st century, to simply put, flat out dumb down our country as far as it can be dumbed down, strikes me as most unfortunate.

And alarming. I’m alarmed at the dumbing down of my country, but I will henceforth assume you are fine with this elevation of stupidity.

I like how Biden doesn’t have to make everything about himself. I love how he doesn’t have to tweet everyday or make every day his own personal tv show.

We have 11 million jobs open in the US today. We have 6 million unemployed. We add in 3 million people next year and we have more people than jobs available. Including jobs the immigrants can’t qualify for.

Now that we have more people then jobs, please tell me why businesses will raise wages to hire people. They have an abundance of people to choose from and can now pay minimum wages.

With low wages, that can’t help with people suffering from high inflation rates. Which will result in more welfare, from food stamps, health insurance, unemployment.

Where are we going to house 6 million more people? We have issues with low income housing as it is.

I just wanted to remind everyone that last weekend Trump essentially endorsed Qanon, a terrorist threat according to the FBI and went on a crazy rant full of lies while his followers held up Qanon signs.

You just don’t see this type of conspiracy, inflammatory rhetoric, and cultish behavior on the left. This is really dangerous to our democracy.

Like I said, I don’t care who they are directed to. If you post in an open forum, then they are directed to anyone who is reading it. Anytime you post something that is a lie, partisan, weak or emotional that I feel I should respond to, I will. I don’t really care if you block me, you do that with anyone who doesn’t share the beliefs. This just shows everyone you have a small fragile ego.

Of course not. People who know better, noted historians, and medical authorities should be encouraged to inform the public. The problem is in the "stamping out" part, the establishment of "gate keepers" given the power to control which opinions are able to be voiced. I'm a big believer in the first amendment even if it gives morons the ability to push destructive untruths like Q Anon, the big lie, or the 1619 Project. If elites want to voice informed opinions and have those opinions amplified, that is fine. If elites want power to quash dissent then eff them.

With the idea that elites should function as gate keepers of opinion, would you support a proposal to only give free speech rights to citizens who can pass an aptitude test that proves they've been though your proposed education? Would you have the government issue speech licenses to stifle challenging opinions voiced by non-elites? In this authoritarian hellscape you claim to not want while at the same time posting piece after piece pushing that direction, how do you propose we eliminate people having wrong opinions?

As far as I can tell, I agree that you post in a serious fashion intended discuss and debate with seriousness and accuracy (however much we might disagree on your success rate there ;)). I hope you don't think you are genuinely someone who has done away with passion and perspective in your postings. Not only would that make you inhuman, it would make you less interesting.

Miles Taylor, a former DHS chief of staff, is weighing in on the controversy and revealing Trump's take on the situation. Per the news outlet, Taylor recalled how Trump "once took the idea of shipping migrants north to the next level."

Taylor noted that in 2019 Trump instructed officials to transport immigrants to blue cities and states across the country, he also emphasized that the former president had specific instructions.

Speaking about the situation during an appearance on CNN, Taylor elaborated.

“He wanted us to identify the murderers, the rapists, and the criminals and in particular, make sure we did not incarcerate them, and we put them in those cities,” Taylor said during the news broadcast. “It doesn’t take a lawyer or genius to recognize that this would likely be illegal to do.”

Wow, very misleading here Thriller. You do know the Senate has the original version of the Electoral Count act and it is co sponsored by a Republican and a Democrat. It also has more than enough Republican support to pass the “Filibuster”.

They knew passing this bill was going no where in the Senate. Why is that?

Tell me you don’t follow politics without telling me you don’t follow politics.

The House and Senate often work on different pieces of legislation that deals with the same issue. That way they can be amended later.

The main issue, which you conveniently left out, is the vast majority of House Republicans voted against this. The majority of Republicans in the Senate will most likely vote against their own version too. True, it’s looking like they’ll have enough votes for the filibuster to not be enacted.

But it’s telling that the majority of Republicans don’t want to amend the ECA to prevent another Jan 6.

Why is that?
 
This isn’t going to end well. It’s going to get someone hurt or killed. It’s this kind of rhetoric that inspires shootings like we’ve seen in El Paso, Christ’s Church, Pittsburg, Jan 6, and countless school board meetings.

This kind of rhetoric is just so dangerous.
