The BIG ufc Thread

Good points. I, for one, can't wait to see Silva and GSP go at it. Rumor has it that if GSP beats Condit, that's the next fight and it will be a catch weight at 190. But I really want Condit to win, so I'm torn.

I don't understand this obsession with UFC.... but to each their own man.

you watch wwe?
now thats a obsession that baffles me beyond belief.
if your 13 years old and dont know its fake okay.
but grown men who know its fake, or refuse to believe its fake

I think most know it's fake but enjoy the theater of it lol. I don't understand the draw of it either but it does really well so someone sure does. I used to be a boxing fan for many years before MMA and still miss it, but not the politics. Much of that crept into MMA also. I try to just watch the fights and not get into the garbage part of it all.

Great last post Conan.

To me the best thing about UFC is that UFC owns all fighter contracts. You can't believe how much red tape messes this avoids. MLS does the same thing. Some sports it doesn't work for I guess but to me that is the one thing that pushed UFC (and thus MMA) over the top.

Off topic but also why NFL is king (contracts can be axed). In NBA, MLB that is not the case.

imho opinion the best thing about ufc as their maarket expands they lowered their prices.
3-4 years ago a ppv event would have cost me a left ut. okay not a left nut but about 50 euros per event.
2yeraqs ago it cost about 30 euros.
and now it cost about 4-6 euros per event

while the nba's market is expanding and what do they do nbalp prices went from 45 us dollars to 150 euros in a lockout shortened season in just 6 years.
now they are asking 180 euros. and dont tell me the ******** bout inflation its a 200+% increase

I shouldn't have said the best thing about UFC. Probably one of the top things I like and a major reason why it succeeds.

Can you imagine if UFC worked like boxing in terms of each fighter having their own manager and even channel they fight for?

I don't watch it much anymore, but it is entertaining once in awhile on youtube.
Most know it's so-called "fake", even though guys get injured a lot more often than UFC really.
You must remember that UFC does whatever it can to use the popularity of professional wrestling to boost it's own popularity.
How fast would the UFC book a fight with Kurt Angle involved??

They claim to not be a sideshow, like StrikeForce and M1 used to be/are, which I appreciate. And although they let Lesnar in, and they did allow James Toney to get his *** kicked, I don't think they'll ever just let some schmo WWE guy come fight -- unless he's put in several years of straight up MMA training and has a few fights under his belt.

Tim Sylvia is a terrible wrestler. His fighting style is so uninspiring. How the hell has he manged to be a champion? Randy was manhandling is ***. Credit to Randy for sure. But I thought that was a pretty pathetic fight by Tim
