The case for Jabari Parker

After tonight, I'm sold on Parker. He's the guy I want to cheer for. He's dominant, has charisma, plays team ball, and makes you hold your breath every time he has the ball. I deal with Wiggins or Randal if they are what falls to us, but as of now I'm prepared for an entire season of JL3 ball if it gets us Jabari. I just can't see any downside for selecting Parker, even if there is a chance that Wiggins or Randle have a slight chance of being better. That chance is not worth giving up the entire package Jabari brings. Also, besides being the probable BPA, he fills an immense need.

Ok, but the problem is that if Jabari is going #1, we need a snappy catch phrase along the lines of 'suck for Luck' or 'rigg'n for Wiggens.' Maybe 'barfer for Parker?' Right, that sucks. So for you creative types on this board, it's your chance here to make a solid contribution to the tank. What ya got?

I also think that drafting Jabari because he's Mormon would be a mistake. If I had meant to say that, my post would have been much shorter. Perhaps something like "The Jazz should draft Jabari Parker because he's Mormon." My main purpose in even mentioning his religion is to make the point that I believe it would help make him feel more comfortable in SLC. I mentioned his character and loyalty because those are the traits that help to keep a player of his caliber in a small market such as ours.

So when drafting a player into a small market (who you've tanked a season for), yeah I think talent alone is too narrow of view when judging whether he's the player you want.

"Sorry not sorry for Jabari"

I simply don't agree that it is impossible for the Jazz to get FA talent.

If you're saying we can't get LeBron, okay, point conceded. There are 28 other teams who also can't get LeBron.

This idea that absolutely no one wants to come here has to die. Players will go where the opportunity and the money are. If that's Utah they'll come to Utah.

I think Utah (amoung some other teams) does have a slighty harder time getting quality FAs but it is possible.

If I was Utah I would pitch it along the lines of:

Look, we are very talented, young and hungry at the 1-5 and into the bench. Kanter, Favors, Hayward, Burks, Burke, Parker/Randle/Wiggins and Gobert are just waiting for that right vet to come in, settle them down and take them deep into the playoffs. We have inside scoring, rebounding and pant D. We have fantastic shooting Hayward/Jabari or we have fantastic driving in Wiggins/Burks.

To a certain degree that's true, but who is Utah's biggest FA signing ever? Would it be Carlos Boozer or Okur? If that's the best we can come up with, the Utah Jazz are nearing 40 years of never attracting a true franchise conerstone via free agency.

Hard to argue with that.

To be honest I am good as long as the Jazz land Parker/Wiggins/Randle. Obviously I have favorites (Parker 1A, Wiggins 1B, Randle 2) but any of the three would be fine with me.

Having Hayward, Burks and Parker/Wiggins on the wings seems sexy and I want that. But having a big rotation of Favors/Kaneter/Randle/Gobert looks sexy as well.

With that big man rotation, which Top 3 pick do you bring off the bench for 4 or 5 years? Favors, Kanter, or Randle?
