The case for Ricky Rubio

I get your point, but I'm not sure that both Rubio and Mitchell qualify as "team-first players with no egos". That label should be reserved to players who don't usually take shots that they can't make. There is a good chance that both Rubio and Mitchell will finish the season not only shooting bellow 40 percent from the field, but significantly bellow. In the case of Mitchell, his fans will probably argue that he is still young and can learn. The same argument will probably be made about Rubio, who is still somewhat young, despite being playing basketball since was in diapers. In Rubio's case, I hope that all that constant and incredible communication between him and Snyder, which has been reported, would serve to make him improve his shot selection in general. Nevertheless, he still needs to learn how to make lay-ups at a decent percentage, since he has being truly truly awful at that during his career.

First time I've heard criticism of Rubio's shot selection...

Dude has been really good. I don't cringe when he shoots yet... he's had a couple off the dribble that were ugly.

He's had a couple passes that frustrate me, but he won't be perfect ya know. He controls the game and is a handful defensively. He also makes me smile... can't put a price on that.

Yep. If anything, Rubio would be shooting less if not for Snyder encouraging him to shoot.

I think Snyder is pretty much free-wheeling with Rubio. If Ricky somehow finds his stroke, the Jazz absolutely killed in the T-wolves deal. We'll have to trust Quin's judgment.

off rtg by the Rubio-led Wolves. When he was healthy, they were top 12.
11/12 104.8 (18th) First 41 games played (ACL) Rubio Ridnour Beasley Love Milicic
12/13 103.6 (25th) Last 57 games played (ACL) Rubio Ridnour Kirilenko Love Pekovic
13/14 109.4 (10th) 82 games played Rubio Martin Brewer Love Dieng
14/15 103.6 (25th) 22 games played (ankle) Rubio Martin Wiggins T.Young Dieng
15/16 107.1 (12th) 76 games played Rubio Lavine Wiggins Towns Dieng
16/17 111.5 (10th) 75 games played Rubio Rush Wiggins Towns Dieng

That was with the worst bench in the league year after year.

Right now the Jazz are 15th. Our bench is miles better than anything the Wolves had. Add Hood coming back, Mitchell improving, and all of them gelling, I'm sure they'll be top 10. Defense? Top 3 almost guaranteed.

I think it'll take until next summer at the earliest to fix his stroke. It's not just something he can find. It's seriously broken imo, to the point where they will have to let it ride through the season.

Meanwhile George hill continues to tear it up. 2 points on 0-5 tonight in a loss to Phoenix.

lol ok if Rubio isn't looking to score our offense will be ridiculously poo like

Ricky Rubio opening an academy for kids in Farmington to fund lung cancer research.

How awesome is that!

Well, that's quite expensive. $40ph only get you a college level coach in the end. We get similar level here down under for $10ph for 10 year olds. Albeit kids don't get Ricky Rubio appearances.
Is it a normal price for kids coaching in Utah?

I miss me some George Hill. Underrated and underrated Jazzman. I'd take Hill over Rubio, on this Jazz team, any day of the week.

I bet you dont want to see george hill without socks on

He has a delicate build, long toes mangled in every direction I can imagine

I don't like Quin's attempt to rebrand Rubio.

I am convinced the Rubio experiment is not going to work out.

Guys haven't done the best job of getting open. Rudy has been a little sloppy, Favors is too slow, Joe has been sick for 2 of 4 games, Rodney missed 2 and chit his way through another, Joe Jesus is still warming up. He's working with a jacked up team missing its best player from last year. They need time offensively. Defensive performance was probably most worrying against Phoenix. Rudy hasn't been great.
