The costs of gay marriage

Not "rather than", but "as a result of". You can't get the former without the latter.
All I hear you saying is "You can't get cultural acceptance without demanding a court forced label that doesn't fit."
Cultures don't owe anyone acceptance.

I'm not responsible for your refusal to accept human nature.

Women never demanded to be called men in their fight for equality under the law. Black people never demanded to be called white in their fight for equality under the law. I guess homosexuals ain't "natural" to demand a label that doesn't fit.

The point is that cultures have been redefining marriage for eons. So your complaint about changing the definition yet again carries little weight.

Changing such definitions ain't a basic individual freedom as you claimed.

Agree to disagree. I find that acceptance of people doing no harm to be a bedrock principle (one of many, some of which can conflict).

Homosexuals are not asking to be called heterosexual. Homosexuality is as natural as heterosexuality.

No, it's a cultural choice, one that needs to be made to respect individual freedom.

Here in New Zealand we have just today legalised gay marriage. I feel the same. When is it supposed to kick in?
