What's new

The Dark Knight Rises

I agree. The whole two boats premise and Two-Face was weak and killed the last half hour of TDK. TDKR on the other hand didn't feel long at all.

Dumazz I was just saying how it was in the comics. Not how I think it was in the movies. Holy **** you guys take your movies way too seriously.

I'm a film major, taking movies seriously is kinda part of the job description.

What kind of jobs are you looking at?

Cinematography is probably my main interest. So, starting out as a cameraman for small production studios, and hopefully moving up to become a director of photography would be nice.

I also like screenwriting, but the lifestyle of trying to make it big as a writer just seems kinda hectic to me, so I'll probably just do that on the side while I do other things, and see if I ever manage to sell something independently.

I found it extremely strange that they decided to end the movie with what is basically the beginning of the Robin charachter as well as showing that Bruce Wayne is alive and well. (I don't need to preface this with **spoiler alert** do I? I mean, we're 12 pages in for gods sake)

it isnt robin!!!!!! well his name is, it was just a nod at the end of the movie to give his brith/real name robin.
but it aint the boy wonder

I'd like to see the next Batman start off with Robin protecting the city. Something about him being enough and doing a good job. Then a new set of criminals enter the game. Riddler and Penguin (or just one) and Robin gets his butt handed to him. He goes into hiding and tracks down Batman and brings him back.

Details and general plot I will leave to the experts. But there is a general idea.

nah robin sucks.
and no more nolanverse bats for me.

After 2 hours I was so ready for TDK to end. I loved the Joker and Ledger's performance but the movie seemed like it went on forever. TDKR flew by and I could have watched another hour.

I completely agree with this.

IMO, The Dark Knight is my least favorite to watch.

#1 Batman Begins is awesome. Plenty of the Tumbler... Focuses on Wayne's demons... Katie Holmes (soooo cute)... It's fun to watch... And Liam Neeson is the man. I think they could have made this one even longer. Especially that last train fight scene with Neeson.

#2 TDK had a few parts that just weren't that cool. I get that they were sorta essential to the story. But they just weren't WOW TOTALLY AWESOME!!! Like when you see the Bat dodging missiles or the Tumbler running over police cars. That part when he goes to China to get that jerkoff Chinese CEO. Meh. It happens fast, hardly any fighting, and the CEO is captured. Just meh. The motorcycle is ok. But it's not nearly as cool as watching the Tumbler run stuff over.

#3 TDK had Maggie G as Bruce Wayne's love interest. Gross. She's ugly and just not a good actress. Nolan didn't do her any favors either. Literally, she demeans Batman/Bruce Wayne in every single scene that she's in. TDKR has two actresses who are much hotter, much deeper, and much more captivating.

#4 TDK's villain almost became too good. I wanted to see Heath Ledger work his insane magic even more. Screw watching Batman fight. I wanted to see Ledger talk. Lick his lips. Look crazy with that makeup. To this day I watch him act and cannot believe that it's really him.

#5 No plan. I get that was the whole point of the Joker's existence. He had no plan. He wanted to watch the world burn. But at some point I grew tired of watching senseless killings and wanted to see something more.

#6 The main fight/chase happened in the middle of the movie. When Joker takes out the Tumbler and then plays a game of chicken with Batman. The final fight with the two boats was a great story. Gotham showing that it wasn't as "ugly" as the Joker had predicted. But again, too fast. I wanted to see more fighting. More epicness. Never at any point did I think that Batman "might" lose. One minute you see the snipers looking to take out the hostages. The next minute you see Joker falling off the building. If anything, the 3 dogs he had gave Batman more of a scare than Joker or any of his gangsters. I understand that Joker isn't exactly "a fighter." But I wanted to see something more.

Therefore, this movie just got long for me. There wasn't ever any climax. It's interesting to this day. And probably has the deepest thoughts to it. But IMO, it's the weakest of the 3. Ledger was fantastic in it though.

TDKR could have gone for another hour for me. I wanted to see me of crappy Gotham. I wanted more cops fighting criminals. All hell breaking loose. I wanted to see the fight between he and Bane more epic. I wanted to see Bane bleed. I wanted Batman to yell, "This time Bane, I break you!"

All 3 movies rock. But the first one has a unique feel for me. And the Tumbler chase scene when Katie Holmes is going delusional is one of my favorite scenes of all time.

The second one is good. Joker was amazing and just gross yet I just couldn't turn away. He captivated me.

The third one had the most muscle and kickassness to it. I just believe they could have made it even longer and more epic. It wasn't like they couldn't have. The story was there. They just needed to expound upon it. More fighting at the end. Extending that final fight scene 5-10 more minutes would have done wonders.

In case anyone needs a Bat-itch scratched, I thought I'd share this "journey trailer". Like the title infers, it's a trailer for TDKR, with some of the first two movies mixed in. I rather enjoyed it.

Well, this post if rife with dumbassedness. Real quickly, they go to Honk Kong, not China. Secondly, you compliment Katie Holmes, who shouldn't even be working in Hollywood, but rip into MG who actually is a good actress. That's enough for now.

don't you know, if a woman is unnatractive they cant act.
thats what acting means to stupid people: ugly = "no acting skill what so ever".

so yeha by those standards katie holmes is a multiple oscar winning actress compared to MG

He wasn't in Gotham. Remember Alfred explaining how he would go to Europe every year, to the same cafe and would hope to see Bruce with a woman, a wife at a table across from him. He never wanted him to come back to Gotham. That is where they were.
