What's new

The Dark Knight Rises

It's okay, I understand you're not very smart... Nolan's movies have a 90 and up IQ requirement...

I feel bad, because you're really missing out.

Thinking is hard.

I'd really like to hear which of his movies make it into the top 10 films of all time. Like I said, he's up there with some of the younger guys of the past decade, definitely one of the best working, but two of the top 10 ever? Not even close.

Right now he's pretty squarely in the Mann, fincher, jonze department. But IMO below the Anderson, Tarantino, and coen department.

And, if were talking about living directors, even if they've passed their prime, he's obviously below Spielberg, coppolla, and Scorsese.

I think it's pretty easy to argue that each director I mentioned has as high or a higher peak than Nolan has shown.

I hear this movie was originally intended to be about joker being in the insane asylum and Robin being introduced, that would of been much better.

tarantino sucks and is overrated. he is a nice guy though.

That's funny, I feel the exact opposite about him. I can't stand him, but for his craft, he's phenomenal. I think he's the greatest film dialogue writer of all time, nobly else can sit two actors on screen just chatting for as long as he can and have the audience hanging on every word, he's unrivaled there.

Different styles though. Tarantino makes the most ****** up stuff and makes it hilarious in his completely original style. Same goes with Cohen bros.

I actually think reservoir dogs is on the low end of tarantino's pedigree.

Pulp fiction
Inglorious
Jackie brown
Kill bill duo
Reservoir dogs

Memento, The Prestige, Inception have all been original movies from Christopher Nolan. He adapted Insomnia and the Batman movies and that's it. And it's impossible to compare Tarentino and Nolan. They are both completely different directors. But what they both excel at is character development and an emphasis on characters.

I personally believe Nolan is the best director there is today, and while I am extremely excited for The Dark Knight Rises, I can't wait for him to get out of the Batman universe and continue making purely original films.

Bump for the HD teaser link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apMXFloDH6M

only like pupl and reservoir.

was kinda looking foward to inglorious *******. first time it wa sok but after rewatching it. it went form avg to bad. the trailer is awesome though. and yeah i like nazi killing so the movie has some moments

Quentin Tarantino's next film is Django Unchained. No disrespect to Nolan who I like a lot, but it will be better than anything Nolan has ever done.

I don't think comparing the two makes sense, anyway. Nolan does artistic genre where the concept overrides the characters. Tarantino does artistic genre where the characters override the concept. It's a matter of taste. I'm more of a Tarantino fan. I appreciate Nolan's smart spectacles, but Tarantino's character work is always better.
