The Debates

I know threads have been moved out of the Jazz forum due to being taken off topic, but I haven't seen a thread become Jazz-related to the point of it being moved to the Jazz forum.

I have a new goal.

Reverse Cousins a GD thread until it gets moved from GD to the Jazz Forum.

Ann debate tweets were good:

Obama busy taking assault weapons out of the hands of people guarding embassies.

That's the sound of Obama relieved they stopped talking about fast and furious.

Obama pledges to hire OJ to help look for the real killers in Libya.

Hillary just took full responsibility for Obamas debate performance tonight.

I thought you didn't trust ABC news?

It's funny how ABC news is the Bible when it says something that agrees with your agenda but is evil liberal garbage when it doesn't. You can't have it both ways. You can't find it credible one day and not the next.

I just got it from ABC so don't blame me if you find it to be a bunch of crap! I got it from ABC!

Funny how you are fixating on the messenger rather than the message.

The best candidates are showing through. Cream is rising to the top.

Excrement floats too...

One of the differences for me between Romney and other Repubs who have won the Presidency over the last 30+ years is that he's not very likeable. Reagan, both Bush's, they were likeable. Even as dumb as W was, he was likeable in some ways. All three were the type of guy you'd want to have a beer with. Romney? Not even close.

Not that it should matter. I think it could make a difference though. In short, he's just not easy to relate to. And that could make all the difference. Again, not that it should.

Sooooooo true

I laughed so hard when I read this from the SL Tribune.

If any of you have read anything on facebook during or after the debates you know exactly what Bagley is talking about.

That's funny. But in all honesty, I'm not sure how anyone would think that the moderator didn't overstep her bounds.

Is it your position that the moderator should never ever intervene regardless of what the candidates say?

I'm not sure I agree with that. I think that's a recipe for false balance.

Unless they become vulgar, violent or something else the moderator needs to restrain themselves. Checking them on policy is pretty dumb.

Especially when they later say that the candidate was right.

I don't think she did correct him on policy. She corrected him on a "who said what" issue.

For example, do you think the moderator has an obligation to correct the record if Obama were to say "Mitt Romney said on national television yesterday that all black people are heathens who should be put to death." Should the moderator stay silent in that situation?

Yes. Mitt Romney can stand up for himself.
