No, I just expect a GM to make good decisions when opportunities present themselves. I am not saying DL is a bad GM, but definitely overrated by his track record.
Yes because it is easier to judge track record in hindsight than to declare your opposition to each decision on the same day each one is announced by DL.. Sometimes opportunities present that seem like good decisions but reveal themselves as not so good later down the track.
You have $5000 in your pocket. You are given 10:1 odds over a coin flip (rule is you can only flip once and it costs $5000)
- Is it a good decision at this point to accept the coin flip (at this exact moment) ?? (probability says yes if you can afford it)
- If you decide to flip and win..was it a good decision ?
- If you decided to flip and lose.. was it a good decision ?
- If you decided not to flip at all.. was it a good decision ?
The above scenarios have parameters which are defined in a sandbox. But when it comes to trading players, there are lots of variables that are difficult to predict.. All you can do is assign a probability and hope that the outcome is good..
But expecting GM's to make good decisions at each opportunity ?? That GM would probably also be able to predict the outcome of a coin flip before it happens.
