The Donovan Mitchell Hype Thread! (repository of highlights and effusive praise)

Heh, it is cute that you think etymological history matters at all. . .

It does. In this case you chose to ascribe racial overtones to a poster due to YOUR misunderstanding of a common phrase. That is an egregious error imo as the concept "racist" is such a huge insult and a hot-button topic to boot, so by even insinuating this you do the other person a grave dis-service when that was never the intention, nor even the original meaning of the phrase to begin with.

What is the etymology of scape goat? Is it safe to use that term around here? I don't want to offend anyone of the Jewish faith, nor have PETA come down on me.

Thanks in advance.

If I am not mistaken one possible early source is from Leviticus in the bible for a goat being designated to be cast into the desert with the sins of the community cast upon it.

I think you're good lol.

Seriously? I learned that in 6th grade. We had to do etymologies for all of our vocab words in English.

Never encountered the word as far as I know. Even when discussing the origins of words and phrases I've never knowingly heard it called that.

Words is stoopid.

so have we determined whether whipping boy is a racial slur or an attack against the britsh monachry?

Have decided if DM will become the GOAT?

Whether next space Jam movie will be about him?

On how many Churos he eats in a day?

or the word etymology shouldnt be confused with entomology.

or a remake of the movie celtic pride where Jazz fans steal gordon hayward (played by will ferrell) instead

Donovan Mitchell lol, what a steal. His dribbling skills and coordination is off the charts, 1:06 on the video below is a good example of this. The confidence he exudes while doing it as well, woohoo!
