What's new

The Donovan Mitchell Hype Thread! (repository of highlights and effusive praise)

You don't know what you have in Mitchell. You know what you're getting in Irving. His defensive limitations notwithstanding... Who better to help reduce this negative impact than Gobert? To gain a lot, you have to give up

What we know about Mitchell. I know I'm getting 7 years from a guy who plays defense, and shows lots of nice skills on offense. we know he wants to be here

Here's what we know about Kyrie Irving. He's signed for two years, and he's given a list of teams he wants to play for, and hmmmm, what a surprise!!! The jazz aren't on that list, so chances are he's gone in two years. That's not enough time to build a team that can beat the warriors and possibly the wolves, and maybe OKC. Plus, we'd have to gut the team just to get him, and how do we know the cavs wouldn't require Gobert to get him? Last but not least... he hasn't proven anything without the best player in the game. The cabs weren't even close to contending with just Irving.

IMO Irving isn't a transcendent star that automatically transforms this team into a contender.

The shot

It's funny to think that he was 8 months old when that game happened...

Following Gobert, Ingles, and Mitchell on Twitter is such a joy. These guys are actually excited to be here. I wouldn't move Mitchell for a 2 year rental of Kyrie. Get the Mitchell on the court and see what he can do. I think he's gonna be a home run. Quite honestly, if the coaching staff can help him improve his shooting percentages, he might actually be a better player than Kyrie in 2 years anyway. At the very least, he'll be a more complete player.

The shot

Who can blame him. I've seen that at least a 100 times and I still can't get enough of it. The best part is how Adam Keefe walks onto the floor with his fists raised as soon as the shot has left Stock's hand. "Yeah, that's 100% going in."

I just think Jazz fans really want their history respected, especially after being left by Hayward partly on the ground of Boston's history. Mitchell is gratifying that desire by calling Stockton the GOAT, even though no one outside of Jazz fans (or very few at least) would echo that statement in regards to the PG position.

Hell I got a mini-chub when Blake Griffin drunkingly told some guy in a Stockton jersey he was the best PG of all time.

Of course Jazz fans love it when players say good things about the Jazz, it's part of being a fan.

And many people would call Stockton the GOAT as far as 'pure' point guards go.

Even if it is just pandering I'm cool with it. Everything seems well thought out and planned with the kid. He's been showing he's a professional and smart dude throughout the whole draft process. I think it shows his want to be embraced and it will be reciprocated. Just him showing that he wants to be liked and attempting to connect is more than others did.

Also, I was look at Eric Griffin's highlights from his D-League season and he once did a Malone tribute dunk in game. He was pandering before he even got on the Jazz.
