The "Don't Draft Chris Singleton" Thread

"In catch and shoot situations he's far more effective, making 43% of his attempts at 1.28 points per shot, the 4th best in this group." I know 43% isn't mind blowing or that great, but it definitely isn't bad.

Also, he is a good offensive post player at the SF. Shawn Marion proved that can be a huge advantage. He absolutely killed the Heat in the post when smaller guys guarded him (sometimes Lebron to, lol).

So far you're the only one making any good points on the opposing side (no offense, others). I'm going to drill these into my skull if 'it' happens.

7 boards a game and 37% from 3 point shooting isn't good enough for ya?

Ronnie Brewer shot 40% from the 3 point line his sophomore year at Arkansas on 3 attempts per game. While I am willing to bet my 1st born child on Singleton becoming a better shooter than Brewer, there is a stark difference from college 3 to NBA that some people aren't able to adjust too.

In college? He played PF a lot at FSU and SFs with big rebounding numbers usually come back to earth hard in the NBA. Ranked against his peers, he doesn't stand out in that category either.

And 37% from the college 3 basically when left open and never off the dribble. That's not bad, but I'm not impressed at all. You know who shot that the last two years he was in college? Ronnie Brewer. There's another Brewer that shot 43% and 35% from 3 in college that can't get off the bench on a good team (after getting DUMPED by an absolute crap team that drafted him top-10). And that's after years of honing his shot.

Singleton screams BLEH to me.

Instead of focusing on a replacement for AK...

Could we focus on getting an improvement over our current group of 3s? Because they all suck.

We are in the lottery for a reason ya know. Maintaining the status quo isn't exactly going to get us into championship contention.

Tobias Harris? I think he has just as much potential as any other wing in this draft not named Burks or Williams.

7 boards a game for a guy who played power forward in college is OK. 37% is the outlier in his 3 year college career.

I posted this a million years ago in the draft thread, but his performances noticeably dipped against good teams. I think he had one great game against Butler. Otherwise, he didn't fare well in conference and fared poorly against good OOC teams.

Oh and for the crew that says Singleton didn't take a lot of 3's, what do you say about derrick Williams? He took around 20 fewer 3's than Singleton

I'm dead serious, both played PF for their teams. derrick made a lot more but took a lot less

He made a lot more of everything and did a lot more of everything offensively. You are comparing a collegiate organic, ripe Gala apple to a bruised orange at Smith's here. That is ridiculous.

I'm not debating who is the better player offensively, without a doubt its D-will2. But you were concerned with the amount of 3's Singleton took but yet Williams took around 20 less

And hit them at an absurd 57%. And did everything else. Singleton's game is not offense, and he's not a fluent shooter. This is as much fact as anything in this draft.

Well, you may be right but scouts liked how he shot in the workouts and so did the Jazz. The Jazz's opinion is the only one that matters here

This this this this this

Double this this this this this. Just like we needed to become longer to beat the Lakers, we have to have a defensive stopper to slow down the Kobe, LeBron and Durrant type players. Unless your goal is not to win a championship.

Actually, Singleton acted like it was a terrible workout. Go back and watch the interview with him. The Jazz brass of course acted like it was decent, its simply the professional thing to do.

I personally would rather have Hamilton and his shooting ability. Not really all that high on the Singleton.
