The FINAL COUNTDOWN - 50 Days to go

Please provide evidence. This was thoroughly debunked in previous threads.
Small population relative to other teams.
Share regional market with multiple teams.
Next largest city (Austin) is mostly a transplant city and are not Spurs fans
Every social media site that list users has the Spurs as one of the lower teams in terms of total number of fans.

Spurs are like the Jazz. They have a small but dedicated fan base not a large one.

It would have around 38 people in it. The owners and some at the league to facilitate. That is about it. Not unreasonable at all.
All 30 Team Owners are going to agree to a system that intentionally ensures that their team will never receive an expected superstar through the draft? I'm not ever going to believe in a conspiracy theory that says the owners are in on it. In addition to them you also have to rig the lottery ball machine (which would involve several levels of the company that made it) and compromise the law firm witnesses in some manner.

Nah. The NBA operates on a system that relies on some degree of competitiveness and fairness of the games. Anything leaking out showing they officially intentionally influenced things like this would destroy it completely. Not worth the risk, when through free agency and official rule changes they can generally get what they want out of the product anyway. If there's fixing going on, its unofficial, tied to gambling, and happens through significantly less visible ways than the draft lottery.

There is not any great metric to say what a "big market" is, but I think team value evaluation's is a decent proxy. Dollar speaks and while ownership is a hobby they still look for ROI.

Aggregating a couple different sources puts San Antonio at #20, just ahead of the Jazz at #21. Would definitely say they are a small market and that the NBA colluding to help them is just a conspiracy theory based on random outcomes.

26 Days to go.

Please note i will be taking names of those cynical about our lottery luck. The naysayers if you like, the debbie downers. When we win the lottery these people will be shunned in the celebrations for their bad vibes. I will personally be villifying and mocking such heathens. Yes i'm talking to you LogGrad
I can't wait to confirm that we got the 5th pick like the Pistons did twice.

This scares me. NBA usually rewards teams that would bring them profit. I have a feeling Brooklyn might get lucky.

Luck has nothing to do with it. Money for the NBA does. So Silver will make sure that either San Antonio or Philly will secure the #1 pick, and the other will get either #2 or #3. It is written in the stars, as in the NBA must support their true stars or the money will not flow as intended. In the same vein as Luka mysteriously appearing in LA for a ham sandwich in return. The money engines of the NBA must be primed first and foremost. So the Jazz will end up somewhere #4 to #5. Book it.

I also would not be surprised if part of moving Luka to LA involved the NBA promising a top 3 pick for Dallas in return, so there is a really good chance the top 3 end up being #1 San Antonio, #2 Philly, #3 Dallas.

I would love to be wrong in this and I am hoping to eat a healthy helping of crow come June, and I will gladly do so should we get either #1 or #2. But the best we can realistically hope for is #3, but most likely we end up at #5.

mate never mind crow, you'll be getting forcefed stale bread smothered with an inch thick of vegemite

No Sir. Empiricism promulgates that beliefs should be held hostage by the outcome of observable testing. We value science, we set empirical adequacy as a goal, we commit to testing against experience.

David Hume. Noted down for putting in stocks so the public can throw rotten vegetables at you

My conspiracy on why we win the lottery.

Tanking debate is tiresome and hurtful to the league. NBA wants to justify pushing changes to the system, so they award the dirtiest tanker #1 this year to enrage as many as possible to drive the change.
