What's new

The future is bright for the utah jazz!

k so i'm an optimist, but here goes:

Memo comes back healthy and ready to contribute again. He'll spread the floor and open things up for Paul, Al, and Derrick.

Jazz will either get a top 3 pick or trade up into the top 3 to draft Kyrie Irving to be groomed under Devin Harris. (Jazz have plenty of trade chips with extra draft picks and/or Tomic - their own this year and Golden State's next year, even if its top 7 protected)

Hayward, Favors, and Evans all come back improved.

Tomic comes over (if not traded) and is decent and adds some length in the middle

Lineup will consist of players in their prime and a good young core of rookies and 2nd year players:

Harris / Irving
Miles Hayward
Millsap / Evans
Jefferson / Favors
Okur / Tomic

A healthy Okur allows Al to go to his natural position at the 4. Millsap evolves into a starting 3 with minutes at the 4, too. Okur will open things up nicely for the two of them!

The present and future look good with this core, IMO! Another couple of vets like Watson and a solid backup center will fill out the lineup perfectly!

where are Raja's 30 minutes of playing time

and this lineup won't get the Jazz in the playoffs

Memo taking minutes from Favors will NOT make us better.. Let's hope we can somehow get rid of his expiring contract. The last thing we want is to take minutes from Favors, who we are building around.

Also, I don't understand why so many people here want Kyrie and seem to dislike Harris. We don't need an elite point guard to be a contender. Harris will do just fine. We need to focus on the wings.

I like the optimism, so here is my optimistic outlook:

The Lock-out eats the entire 2011-2012 season. Meaning that the Jazz don't have to pay for a broken Memo, an erratic Miles, or one of the two years remaining for the former player known as Raja.

AK enjoys the year off with his family so much so that he decides to retire rather than accept KOC's 3 yr 38 Million dollar offer.

Ty Corbin will use the year off to get head coaching experience leading the Herriman High Lady Mustangs to a State Title.

KOC finds a loop-hole in the CBA that allows the Rocky Mountain review to be played durring the entire lock-out. Vegas and Orlando miss the loop-hole making the RMR the only summer league.

Durring CBA negotiations the players and owners agree they are all making too much money. They agree to a new deal that slashes ticket prices by 75%, concession prices in half and doubles the salaries of the people who vaccume the popcorn and mop up spilled beer after the games. All the Jazz games are broadcast locally on KJZZ.

it's not like i dislike harris, but he's 28 and it'd be cool to draft a young stud pg to be groomed. I also agree to not take minutes from Favors. I don't think I ever said Memo would take his minutes, though did I? Even if Memo can give 15-20 minutes a night and open things up (like I said) for Paul, Al, AND DERRICK)

I agree the wings should be a focus, too. So if we keep both picks, do we go after a combo guard like Knight or Jimmer or do we look at a Jan Vesely (taller version of AK will a jump shot) and maybe a Jordan Hamilton?

I'm curious as to who you would want to draft?

Offense:
PG-Harris
SG-Memo
SF-Millsap
PF-Favors
C-AJ

Defense:
PG-Harris
SG-Millsap
SF-Millsap
PF-Favors
C-Favors
Hiding somewhere on the paint-AJ
Hiding somewhere on the perimeter-Memo

Works for me.

My top 5 choices if we stay at 6- Enes Kanter, Smack, Brandon Knight, Vessely, Kemba

My top 5 choices if we stay at 12- (If Kemba,Jones,Vessely,Donatas,Kemba,Burks been drafted already) Jordan Hamilton, Kawhi Leonard, Tyler Honeycutt, Chris Singleton,Jimmer

It was very hard finding guys I actually want from this class, thats how bad it is

Here are the cons I have read about from my list of guys
Kanter- Not playing in college and may have bad knees, Euros scare me
Smack- Very Limited offensively, maybe age concern
Knight- Takes a lot of shots, thin build
Vessely- Can he shoot, once again Euro
Kemba- Small, not a lot of potential

Donatas- Attitude, euro, thin
Jones- Weird shooting form, didn't impress in NCAA tourney, SF/PF hybrid
Burks- Can he shoot the 3
Hamilton- Questionable shot selection, quickness
Honeycutt- Thin, passive, not great 3 point shooter
Leonard- 3 point shooting, not overly skilled
Singleton- Very streaky, offensive skills
Jimmer- Too small for SG, defense, shot selection, athleticism

The only problem with your lineup is it has CJ starting. Wait one other problem is it has CJ on the team.

Totally agree with the "We dont need an elite PG" camp. Harris is more than good enough for us to do very well.

But if we are in position to add a elite PG, we take it, right? I'd rather have a top 5 PG then a top 20 SG.

Have you heard the age concern on Smack from a legitimate source, or is it just that he's African so you figure nobody kept track? He's the son of a government official, not some tribesman who wandered in out of the bushes. His age appears to be pretty legitimate and easily documented.

:D:D

Why all the love for Harris? He can't play pg in the jazz system. So if we groom Irving under Harris e isn't going to learn how to play properly in Utah. Memo is done. The only reason I want memo around is because his wife is so hot. Mmmmm Eye candy.
