What's new

The Jazz are missing a piece on defense, and that piece is Andrei Kirilenko.

mediocre? lol. how about bringing some mediocre coach out of retirement, that would make you happy huh?

Yeah, all 30 teams are wrong and you're right. He's a stud of epic proportions. Listen, no one wants his *** because he's a lazy, selfish, prima donna who's always hurt or always playing half-heartedly. Get over it. His ship sailed years ago.

Man, AK worshippers are hilarious. Some of you are living in the past. Why not bring back S&M I am sure they could dominate like the good old days. Sorry but time moves on. You guys are remembering the AK before he signed the MAX contract. He is no longer a very good player. Never was he as good as you guys though he was. It is time to rebuild a new young team and not just put band-aids on old veterans so we can compete for the 8th seed. Please stop the AK threads. He is gone and he is never coming back.

This team sucks we don't need AK to help the Jazz suck just a little bit less. AK isn't that piece that puts this team into the playoffs. He is the guy that puts us later in the lottery. So what is the point?

Did you even read the beginning post?
I said the Jazz would be better, and probably closer in those games.
He's not the answer to everything at all, but he can definitely help these guys.
Years and years of playoff experience with some of the best players that have ever lived.

Oh, I'm sorry, I guess I felt like you were calling him a missing piece or something... I mean, just by reading the title and all...

Folks, the sooner we understand what REBUILDING means, the better off you'll be. Paying good money out for someone to suck time away from young players, is not the point of this season. In fact, I cannot think of a worse player for our young players to learn from. Even Phil Johnson talked about how AK turned it into cruise control once he "got his raise, regardless."

As I have said before, I would have no problems watching Kirilenko perform each game:

I'd like to bitch slap the next person that says the word tank.
Tanking isn't the answer anymore than AK is.
You need a balance. I don't want the KIDS to be in a bummed out loosing atmosphere.
I want them to LEARN to compete just as much as learn the game.

Time to move on donchya think? AK was good but not thee the solution. These guys have to learn how to play D at some point, why not now?

The Jazz haven't been able to play decent D outside of Kirilenko and Millsap since Stockton, Malone, and Russell left.

I think Evans can quickly come in and replace AK's defensive presence. In just a few minutes tonight he blocked two shots. Had he gotten more burn in the 2nd half, I have no doubt he would have continued to disrupt things.

AK's length, pure and simple, made up for many deficiencies on the Sloan-led Jazz on D. Offensively, his best skill was as a passer. Losing him certainly weakens us until the current team adjusts to life w/o AK. The talent is there now; they just need time on the court together to learn how to function together as a team.

Exactly, 'revolution'; AK is in decline, can't stay healthy, and wants too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$; the whole league knows it...

His best skill is passing? Really? ? ? Anyone agree that his best skill is passing? How can you ignore his scrappy defense?
He does get injured a little more than normal, but its because of his hard nosed defense: Injuries are gonna happen. He doesn't collect injuries from passing the ball intensely. Even though it is his greatest skill! Good grief.

I like www.82games.com. Gives you so much information and stats about true value of the player to his team. So I went back and looked at Roland ratings and simple net +/- ratings for the Jazz since 2003. I will post just top 3 as it will take to much time.

2003: AK +10, Giricek +4.1, Ostertag +3.4
2004: AK+11.3, Lopez +10.7, Collins +5.7
2005: AK+9.8, Okur +2.9, Harpring +0.7
2006: Boozer +7.8, Millsap +2.7, Harpring +2.1
2007: Boozer +4.9, AK +4.8, Williams +4.3
2008: AK +8.4, Millsap +4.9, Williams +4.7
2009: Williams +7.4, AK +6.0, Korver +3.4
2010: Williams +5.5, AK +5.2 Evans +4.3

So it shows how valubale AK was to the Jazz and how even reduced to role player in 2008-2009 he still was the best player production wise on that team! Of course Jazz are not missing him, lol.

just out of curiosity I looked at this season - still only after 4 games so not much value but: Burks +23, Tinsley +20, Millsap +8.9.. Bell dead last at -27.
