1. The team doesn't give up, or bail out on the team concept when things go bad. They compete hard. Their effort matches that of elite teams.
2. No one player who played tonight is in their prime. They will all get better.
3. Trey Burke, in his third has shown that he is a reliable scoring PG. That's a HUGE DEAL. He will get even better.
4. Jeff Whithey played well and will get better. For a backup big, that's a great asset.
5. Trey Lyles hit the three at a good rate. He showed signs of great potential as a stretch 4. I can't project how good he will be or will he be dud. But tonight he showed me something. He has a good chance to be better, in fact, he could be much better than most expect him to be. He could change the offense.
6. Hood got the rythm and the release. But it's not falling. We saw him last year go through a fantastic stretch of hitting shots. Most young shooters have period where they go cold. I think that is the case here too, he will evolve get better and return to form.

The things the Jazz suck at, they can get better at.... And yes Jeff Hornacek as a shooting coach, lol. I doubt he would do that...but we can dream.

We can blame this teams for many things, but we can't deny they are playing hard, the effort is there despite the gap and the difficulties.

I just realized Withey is in his 3rd year. He is signed through next year, but I hope the FO extends him. Great young backup that plays like a vet! I'll be honest that it made me feel a little better that the Warriors got thrashed tonight without Steph.

Great post. It's post like this that bring us all back down to earth. Glass half full. We sometimes forget how young we are, and we are battling for a playoff spot. Not a championship. But merely 6-8 seed of the playoffs. So we need posts like this to remind us, the sky isn't falling. And we as fans need to be patient.

As soon as I know Exum and Gobert got the good bill of health then I know Jazz have their two main guys ,yep their two main guys.Hayward and Favors will be two main pieces around them.Toss in Hood and your back to the class act on defense that will give San Antonio,Golden State and OKC all kinds of pressure defense they can handle.....Just like I thought it was going to be this year.

I'm gonna lose 500 dollars though. Im pissed about that

Nice post, OP. It's easy to get down on the Jazz right now, unless we get a balanced perspective and realize that the sky isn't falling quite yet. Thanks for that.

Solid Post.

Since we are trying to emulate the Spurs , until we are fully healthy I think we need to pick spots to rest GH and maybe 1 or 2 others.

For instance, last nite would have been a great game to keep a few back in SLC because tonites game would be really nice to win. Now they are gassed from a travel heavy b2b.

Just something to consider if the schedule dictates....

If we can, we need to extend Withey now. Three years, 5M? Would that get it done? Is that too much?

I think it would get it done and I don't think it would be too much.

Withey > Booker imo and Booker makes quite a bit more than that

Would you believe he is only guaranteed 200k this year!

I had a beer Tuesday night with a guy that was a junior college hoops coach and was going to scout the Stampede/OKC Blue game. He opined that the Jazz need shooters and Hayward will never be a first option on a good team. So there you have it. It might be time to tank to go out and get that shooter.

On Withey I agree. I am very happy with him and I would like to see the Jazz sign him for a couple more years.
