What's new

The Jazz are trading D-Will to New Jersey!?

I'd be surprised if we don't move Favors, too. But then I'm pretty freaking floored by this move. Wow. I take back everything I said about the FO being cautious. I'm not exactly excited by the move, but I've got to say they've got some balls to do this. Favors for Curry?

I'm with you and LOAP. Rookies are dangle material. Favors, AK and possibly the worse of the two picks for Gallinari, Felton and Nene makes some sense at this point. I'd love to see that go down.

I am stunned by this trade. But I am also stunned at people calling Devin Harris and Favors role players. Favors is 19 and a true 6'10". This is pretty much what NJ was offering for Carmelo and there's no guarantee Deron will stick around after next season with the Nets! Plus, if the lockout continued, the Jazz might not have even had a chance to trade him!

As for Favors and calling him subpar at GT and bashing him for coming off the bench in NJ...he's a ROOKIE! 3 years from now let's compare Kris Humphries and Favors and see who is a better player. Plus...Favors has the potential to be great defensively. He was great defensively at GT and has the potential to do the same in the NBA.

As for a poster saying we should have got Lopez...he was untouchable. NJ said early on in the Melo talks that they would NOT trade Lopez. He was the only player off limits.

I was stunned at first, but now I really like this trade. What else could the Jazz have gotten? And from eastern conference teams...I don't think the Jazz would want to trade him here in the west.

He's not bad right now - he's 19.

Favors went to the wrong college (Ga Tech) because he's from the Atlanta area. He basically wasted a year in the wrong system.

As for this year, Humpheries is getting minutes because the guy has turned into a rebounding machine.

Make no mistake, this kid has all the tools, is an athletic freak and from what I've heard a good kid - there's no such thing as a "can't miss" but he will at least be a solid player in this league and quite possibly and all-star.

We already have two Power Forwards. Oh, wait, let's pretend Al is a Center so that we don't play him to his strengths.

I am standing pat on what my feelings are...

I just hope it makes us more competitive. I want the Jazz to win.

I'll say it again. Harris is NOT a role player.

15 and 7.5 on the wost team in the League. 42.5% FG, 30% 3FG. On the worst team in the League. Say what you will about him, but compared to DWill, he is a role player. If we got him for AK, I would be happy, but when the price is DWill, you are screwed.

Devin Harris, rookie Derrick Favors and two first-round picks would go to Utah for Williams, a two-time All-Star. The Nets also would send Troy Murphy to Golden State for big men Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright. The picks the Nets are giving up are theirs this year and the likely Warriors’ protected pick next year. There could be more involved, and players included to make the salaries match. Bergen Record

I might be down with that. (Although I'd like to see AK resign for potato chips because he owes us, and because he swears he wants to stay in Utah)

I'd be a lot happier about this trade if Sloan was still coach. Corbin might be fine, but this huge dust-up in mid-season can't be easy for even a seasoned coach to contend with.

What else could the Jazz have gotten?

DWill!!! What else do you need. We could have had best PG in NBA. Now we have A good PG, unproven (in NCAA and in NBA) young rookie, and two picks (one of which is protected through 7, which means chances of getting a star player are remote). I would rather have DWill.

You may be right about Jimmer. But who the hell knows where he'll end up amongst the top picks. Experience should tell us that ping-pong balls will always keep us out of the top 3 spots.

YES!!!!!!

D-Will had become more hype than player. He has been getting killed by young fast players, old slow players, shooters, drivers, passers, point gaurds, shooting guards. His bad attitude has seeped into the entire organization--he wasn't a part of the team it was the Me-Will show.

Let him go to NJ and see how his complaining to the refs while the nets are getting killed works out with the New Jersey Media. Ha ha ha. Go Greg and KOC !!!!! Good luck TY Corbin. Great day for Jazz Fans.

If the Jazz are banking all of their hopes on Jimmer, than they deserve what comes to them...

"The Nets would receive Golden state's first rounder in either 2012, '13 or 14. The first rounder is protected 1 through 7 in both 2012 and 2013, protected 1 through 6 in 2014. If the Warriors still stink worse than the American League Central in 2014, then the Nets would get two second rounders: in 2014 and 2016. That’s in addition to a second rounder in 2011."

Pick converting to 3 2nd rounders sucks hard.

Good god. More hype than player? Laughable.
