What's new

The Jazz are trading D-Will to New Jersey!?

never said he wanted to stay either. Did lebron ever say he wanted out of Cleveland?

DWill is not Lebron. DWill made it clear he wants to win championships. It is up to the organization to build a contender around him. The Lebron comparisons are just stupid...

Ak is expiring anyway so he will come off the books. i am sure we have tried to trade Okur, but with his injury and 10 million on the books for next year good luck!

Nets had CAP and could have taken on AK, so at least we could have saved some money for future purchases. As far as Okur, when you get raped as much as Jazz did in this trade, you try to make sure you include guys like Okur that no one wants to even out trade a little. Not that it would even it out, but at least rape would not be so one sided and brutal.

I dont understand those saying Favors did nothing in college. He was ACC rookie of the year and averaged 13,9 and 2 blocks as a freshman with the worst coach in d-1 basketball. He will be fine. The Jazz need to turn the nets lottery pick into Curry or Ellis from GSW.

What I personally hate is the whole soap opera feel to this. I could get behind it better if it felt more like a business decision.

We trade away one of the Top 10 players in the league. We get: An adequate PG; a high upside PF; one lottery pick; GS Pick which is mid 1st. Harris and the GS pick are whatever. The assets are Favors and the NJ 1st.

So this trade is really about Favors turning into something great and fingerscrossed hope that this year's lottery turns out well. Any way you slice it, that's pretty risky to trade Deron for. I hope it works out.

He didn't sign extension. Like Wade. But Deron was even offered one. Do you see the difference? And even if a player does refuse to sign, does not mean he will be out (Wade). Of course DWill did not refuse to sign. We never offered it.

Deron made a thinly veiled threat after the Ronnie Brewer trade. He said how unhappy he was and that was the reason why he only signed a three year deal.

We couldn't even offer an extension until this coming July. But...there will be a lockout and new CBA by then. Who knows how that turns out. Maybe we could have franchised him. Maybe He would have opted out. Maybe there would be no next season adn we lose him for nothing! We just got the 2010 #3 pick, NJ's 2011 first, and Devin Harris. This wasn't that bad for trading a guy that is not guaranteed to sign an extension with NJ.

1320 AM saying the 2011 NJ pick is unprotected (currently at 6) and the 2012 GS pick is protected top 7 in 2012 but if it defers to 2013 it is unprotected.

Actually, Nets pick if lottery was held today would likely be #6 overall. GSW, maybe 10-14. Not too encouraging. We are not talking about top overall selection here.

Yeah, not to mention that the picks all suck this time around anyway.

I agree. It seems like this trade was made on emotion...like most of the trades made here on the forum. Chances that Harris stays once his contract is up? None. Chances that Jefferson turns into the player we need him to be? Pretty god damn low....so far.

That's my point. We had plenty of time. When time came to offer extension, we could have offered it, and then see if Deron accepted. It is idiotic to assume he wouldn't. He gave no indication of that. But, if he did, then maybe we consider trading him, like Denver. Instead we traded him so early, we didn't even get a chance to offer an extension. If this is not jumping the guy, I don't know what is.

I'm thinking i'll probably move with the Jazz to Las Vegas. I've been thinking about a change of scenery, and then I'll at least know some people indirectly in the city.
