What's new

The Jazz are trading D-Will to New Jersey!?

True, but he won't win it in NJ.

I am not so sure. With new billionaire ownership in place (who actually is a former ball player), they got a boat load of money to spend, and they already have 2 great young players to build around and a lot of CAP space. Plus, they have all their picks after this year. NJ is not in a bad position to rebuild. Smart money is on NJ winning title before Utah at this point.

Great? Lopez sucks. Have you watched him play or looked at his stats this year?

Has Dwill called Humphries yet?

"Humphries, this is D-will, I'm going to make you an All-Star."

Avery Johnson and D-Will??? That should be EPIC melt down. I can see D-will trying to show Avery how he wants to defend the pick and roll. I love it. HA ha ha.

Exactly. These are not your fathers Nets. That guy has said over and over he wants to win...is he willing to spend the money? Yes.

Not sure, either. My money is on DWill going to another team after next season.

Think it was a GREAT move. Some argue he's the best point guard in the league and everyone agrees he's one of the top 3. He's young. Elite PGs are almost impossible to get via trade or free agency. He'll have a bigger impact in NJ than Melo would have. I know that Donnie Walsh preferred Williams to Melo. The Nets got the better deal.

Will the Nets be able to extend Williams

Not until this summer. However after that who knows. If Williams doesn't sign an extension, he can opt out in 2012 and be a free agent. There will be a lot of interest, but Nets will have his Bird Rights and under any new CBA deal, they'll have the advantage.

DWill was concerned with Utah not resigning Boozer and letting Brewer go, you think when he get to Jersey and see's Prokorov's commitment to winning he will eventually sign? If nothing else the Nets will spend money.

True. They also have a young center in Brook Lopez. But they are a little stuck after that. They wasted a lot of money this summer on role players like Travis Outlaw, Johan Petro and Anthony Morrow. They won't have max cap space in 2012 to add another star unless they are able to move some players next year. So their path toward getting much better is still a little unclear.

Maybe I am missing the vision of this deal (if any) but it seems like the future draft picks attained aren't blowing anyone away. isn't next year's draft a weak one anyway? i really hope there is some follow up to this deal, because as is.....dang. i mean, why not include memo or have them throw in morrow or another asset?

Loved D-will back in the day, but he can take his prima-dona act to the Nets now. Sooo glad I can finally stop hearing about "is deron gonna stay????? ahhhh".

I'm sorry but the Jazz need to 1) trade Jefferson's fatass and then 2) Go hard after JVG this off-season.

A frontcourt of Millsap, Favors, Fes, and Elson have good defensive potential and per that tweet above, we need an identity. JG will bring us one that focuses on defense.

Worth the gamble for NJ. They weren't going anywhere and needed a star to take to Brooklyn. Now they have 2 years to beg DWill to stay.

What gamble? NJ did not gamble anything. This rape is as one sided as they come. With Deron and Lopez, plus CAP room and a billionaire owner, moving to NY, and having all picks after this year, Nets are on great shape. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about Jazz.

They just traded two of those picks, Lopez is VASTLY overrated, and there's no guarantee DWill will re-sign there.

I'm thinking i'll probably move with the Jazz to Las Vegas. I've been thinking about a change of scenery, and then I'll at least know some people indirectly in the city.

wow....
can't even begin to process this, my brain feels dizzy

Locke reporting that Williams is stunned.
Deron Williams told me it was not his choice. He is stunned. Declined to do interview until he figures out what it all means.

The Jazz were going to lose D-Will anyway....

I honestly thought (at least up until the turmoil this season has been) that Deron would be content in SLC, provided the team was competitive with the best in the conference. I also think many of you have dumped on Deron way too much - I know many think I'm a D-Will homer, and to some extent I am, but I also think I see him in a realistic light. He has phenomenal basketball skills, I do think he lacks in some important leadership areas due to his intensity and a somewhat abrasive (at least on the outside) personality and I've said this a zillion times, he really needs someone to ride shot-gun for him. For a while here, he had that in his teammates, but I think it was gone when Boozer left (and Korver to a lesser degree).

Pretty hard to bring cohesion when the pieces are moving all around you all the time. Oh well, it's done.

good point

So in the next two years, the Jazz will have 4 high lottery picks.

So this is what it feels like to be a Clippers fan.

Gotta laugh (or cry) at that

He's not bad right now - he's 19....

...Make no mistake, this kid has all the tools, is an athletic freak and from what I've heard a good kid - there's no such thing as a "can't miss" but he will at least be a solid player in this league and quite possibly and all-star.

anyone wondering about Favors, compare GaTech's record last year with their record this year, with essentially the same personnel, having one more year of experience, the only difference is no Derrick Favors (unless you're considering Gani Lawal a major stud)

I'm literally dumbfounded. Just for the record

Al Jefferson is now the best player on a team, that when you add up the aggregate talent is worse than the last team Al Jefferson was the best player on.

ok, Joker, do we laugh or cry?
