And when was the last time we had one? I remember AK averaged 3+ blocks once upon a time. Was Ostertag ever a top 10?

I'm very impressed. For a guy who's defense was so maligned he's a lot better than I expected. Not elite by any means, but at least above average. I wish his offensive skill set would climb a bit, but he's getting better. I will say I've seen him dunk the ball more in the past 3-4 games than the other previous 30+. It's nice to see.

Oh, I'm gonna delete that other dup thread too.

Makes me wonder if 3point shooting is up? That could impact the number of blocks since most of those come close to the basket.

This is an example of what we gained by dropping Bozzer and bringing in AJ. We still are suffering on offense, but I think with time and as he gets more comfortable and understands better what the PF is supposed to do in our offense this part will even out, then we will really be money ahead: far better defense and similar offensive output.

I'm liking this post; giving credit where credit is deserved. Al has been very surprising this year with his solid jump shot, good FT %, and shot blocking ability. I didn't know he did any of these things as well as he has been doing them. All those people (national critics) who ever compared his defense to Boozer's must have never watched Boozer play cause it's not even a comparison. Al has been protecting the rim nicely.

If we keep scoring 130 I don't think we'll be complaining about the offense all the much going forward.

I am surprised at his shot blocking but I still think his defense is as advertised which is average at best. Does not move his feet well. He is an upgrade on D over Memo and Booz however - kind of like being the tallest pygmy.

This meant that Jefferson does not yet equal Bozzer for sheer offensive production, hence we are suffering on offense more than when we had Bozzer, but this will likely improve as Jefferson gets more....oh nevermind. Read it again, I ain't typing it again, eh?

I knew what you meant. I was simply reveling in a 130 point performance. Enjoy it a little, might be the only one we get all season.

Considering what we had before, a primary frontcourt of Millsap + Jefferson is >>>> defensively than Bozzer + Okur. The amount of guys that move their feet well, block shots well and rebound well in the league is pretty low. Having two guys that do most of that pretty well as opposed to two guys that do one of the three well is a huge upgrade.

I figured as much but my sarcasm meter has been wonky lately.

I agree about the 130 pt night too. Hopefully we see a few more before the season is over. And hopefully they are all wins. :/

I don't think he's an elite defender, but he was advertised as an extremely poor defender. To get an average defender who fairly regularly stops people in the paint is awesome, especially when he's replacing a guy who would literally just watch people take it to the rim.
