the jazz have a top ten shot blocker....

I don't think he's an elite defender, but he was advertised as an extremely poor defender. To get an average defender who fairly regularly stops people in the paint is awesome, especially when he's replacing a guy who would literally just watch people take it to the rim.

Easy there you will hurt Sloanfeld's feelings.

Elite Defender > AJ > Average Defender > Poor Defender > A Crippled Monkey > A Ham Sandwich > Bozzer

now, his help defense was and is simply terrible. but one on one, he is an above average shot blocker.


its too bad most offenses dont iso al as the defender very often.

Help defense blocks are what changes the other team's offense and what keep them out of the paint.
 
Never did we know how misleading the block stat could be until we had 2 years worth of Big Al.
