The Jazz have no identity

Saying "the Jazz do not have an identity" to criticize the team is absurd to me. The Jazz, of course, are and will be in search for an identity. Only thing we can regard as an identity is hard work, and effort, for now. That's what I'm asking for. IMO, that is the way it should be. Did the Jazz fail in the LA game? Of course, they did, not because of losing, but because of lack of effort, dedication, and terrible offensive execution. The last one is excusable, to an extend.

I have not ever seen a team, having a lot of youngsters and newcomers as well as a new coach, build an identity in such a short amount of time. Nearly 2 weeks of team training, only 2 (TWO) preseason games to build a level of chemistry, attain reliable and productive execution on the floor. Simply too much to ask for.

That perhaps is hard for fair-weather fans who were calling out the FO for a roster change, youth movement, but are ready to jump out of the bandwagon because they had no idea what "rebuilding" means, how hard it is to "remain competitive and changing the core, cornerstones of the franchise at the same time"..Getting rid of the core of Jazz team version 3.0 was what the majority, from my point of view, was content with or calling for.

The problem with the Jazz, in my opinion, is not the lack of identity. Because any team experiencing same stuff would struggle creating a team identity. You should expect that and see it as a normal part of the process. Problem is the condensed schedule that hampers the number of training sessions which is the main reason for the awful offensive efficiency, accuarcy, execution, terrible floor spacing (as we observed during LA game) we will probably see a lot this year; and most importantly the dilemma between "are we rebuliding -like many other teams that trade or retire its franchise players-?" and "are we competing for playoffs?". What I ,actually, mean by saying "competing for playoffs" is "to maintain the basketball culture, winning habit of the franchise", which, IMO, is a valid reason to try to avoid the hackneyed style of rebuilding in NBA. Also, tanking the season just to give the core players of the future 30+ mins does not guarantee a super quick, perfect youth development.

KOC mentioned that he does not like the word "rebuilding", and is not comfortable with the perception and naming of the process the franchise is going through as rebuilding period. If KOC is sincere about this, one thing to consider is; as I said before, that transition of roles from veterans in this system to newcomers/rookies should happen within an extended period, rather than suddenly. Another thing is that if the Jazz really want to improve their chances for playoffs, they have to sign or trade for a shooter. Even if this group of guys improve the efficiency of team offense, floor spacing and inside-outside balance will continue to seriously hurt the offense overall.

Devin Harris is a natural born leader. He was team captain in New Jersey and Dallas.
But he can't lead when he isn't given the keys to the car.
TyCo needs to quit trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and uncage Harris.
The Jazz 'system' is outdated and doesn't mesh with their personnel.
