The Jazz need to get PJ Tucker

Now that the Rockets are rebuilding PJ Tucker would be a great fit in a Jazz uni. He is in the last year of his deal for just under 8 mil. The question is what would the Jazz have to give up to make it happen.

It would be very difficult to make a trade happen straight up as the only players that match salary we would not really want to give up. O'Neale 8.5 and Favors 9.2 I do not see this happening.

The next option is to put together a package for min players like Oni, Niang, Harrison, Morgan and or Azubuike.(Can't see Niang as part of it) this would mean going further into the cap as their spots on the roster would still have to be filled. This would be an all-in move.

Last would be an interesting Move the Jazz could package Bogdanovic and say Oni and get back Tucker and for salary reason Exum (I know not to bring him back just for the salary. So if you take Exum out they would have to give up say House and McLemore. Jazz might have to give up draft picks too but not sure because Boganovic still has 2 years on his contract after this year. this would also get the Jazz under the luxury tax. I have a hard time with this as Bogdanovic is one of my favorite Jazz players and his shooting is amazing although his defense leaves a lot to the imagination.

Just some ramblings and thoughts as i was cleaning my place today.

Lets just say that the 3rd option is used

Conley, Clarkson, Harrison
Mitchell, McLemore, Hughes
O'Neale, House,
tucker, Niang, Morgan
Gobert, Favors, Azubuike

Better defensively but how about offensively? Is it worth giving future assets

I don’t think he’s attainable from either a salary/logistics standpoint or an asset standpoint (unless Houston really wants Udoka and a bunch of spare parts, but then again DL wouldn’t do that deal), I think he’s been significantly overrated, but if he came in as our 9th guy then we are ready to rock and roll. I’d cut his minutes down to 20.

I rather trade Danuel House Jr. He is much cheaper and more realistic in terms of salary.

Wow we are getting beat by and athletic scoring wing. Good thing we addressed that defensive need in the off-season.

Oh wait.

Give up Bogey for PJ Tucker? No way. PJ can only hit wide open 3s and is still a mid .30 in 3 pt percentage. Huge downgrade even with Bogey starting slow. Remember last year when Bogey carried us some games and flat out won several. And if we just signed PJ? Who's minutes are you taking away? Niang probably. Niang has been on fire and is becoming nice piece of the bench. You are basically taking a great shooter off the floor for an average one. Better defense yes, but if it ain't broke...

35 year old Tucker ain't stopping none of the elite wings in the NBA. He solves nothing for what he would cost.

Nikola Mirotic - he's 29 years old, shoots 36% from 3, has had 36 point games before and plays perimeter defense with his feet.

If I remember well his last playoffs with Bucks when his shot wasn't falling he was useless. And I don't really think he is a good defender. We have plenty of shooters already, if we are to add someone it should be someone who makes us more versatile, like a dynamic wing.

36% from 3 is useless? 87% from the free throw line? He averaged almost a block and a steal per game - we couldn't use that?

You can check his D here, it's pretty dang solid (Joe Ingles IQ with more mobility) and he won't be asked to play D half as hard with the Jazz (because our system is more intelligent).

Tucker is an overrated defender and we don’t have the salaries to trade for him anyways.

Mirotic literally passed on millions of dollars to not play in the NBA for us. He’s not coming back so there’s no point in discussing him as an option.
