The Jazz should looked to sign free agent Wilson Chandler??

I think it doesnt make sense to sign Chandler if we will resign Kirilenko but if he will be gone, then why not?

If we don't sign Chandler, and once Memo's contract expires we would have enough cap space to pursues players for the 2012 season. Which may be better players than Chandler.

Chandler's jumper was terrible before last season. Last year he attempted less three-pointers per game than Wes and still shot only .350 vs. Wes's .407. Wes also averaged more points per game than Chandler last season. Wes is a much better shooter than Chandler. It's not even close.

Like I said, you're probably right about Wes being the better shooter. I really make no argument here, after seeing the real numbers. That was completely off topic though..... and Wes Matthews will probably never have anything to do with a Jazz franchise again.... unfortunately.

I think it makes complete sense..... and here's why.
Only one year in Kirilenko's career, has he ever played all 82 games of the season.... and that was his rookie year.
If you get a starter quality player like Chandler at a price the Jazz can afford, you get a 110 percent Kirilenko off the bench with monitored minutes.
And you also minimize the probability of him getting hurt (which usually seems to be back spasms or inflamed old injuries).
The way AK plays, it puts him at a high risk for injury. All the twisting and turning he does in the air on the court, and his pretty thin frame are evidence of this.
Again, 20 minutes a game off the bench would reduce that risk and allow him to go all out while he's in the game.
I really don't think there's many benches in the league that can handle reserves such as AK, Millsap, Kanter, and hopefully a 100 percent dead eye shooting Okur.
I think it also makes perfect sense considering the Jazz's almost 10 year injury bug that's plagued them.

And you could very well be right as well. But at the same time, how long do the Jazz want to wait to make a push for the playoffs?
I'm not KOC, so I don't make those decisions.... but as a fan I want to see the Jazz really make an unexpected push this year.
Especially with teams like the Lakers, Mavs, and Celtics getting old, and OKC, Portland, and Minnesota starting to look like a real contenders. Hell, in 2012- 13 for all we know.... Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard and Deron Williams will end up on the Lakers or Celtics.
I think the Jazz are in the perfect position to take the league by surprise with all the talent they possess right now.

I'd love the Jazz to resign AK at $7-8 million, but previous experience w/ Jazz management is leading me to believe they will sign him for $10million.

Brace yourselves. It's going to be a sad, sad day.
Previous experience was with the sentimental fool called Larry H. The sad, sad day is coming for all the AK supporters who have to leave this board and cheer for another team when AK signs elsewhere. As for signing both, it can't and won't happen. AK coming off the books gets the Jazz under the luxury tax, but not $17M under the old salary cap. Who knows what the new numbers might be, but I'd venture a guess that with the salaries that are already assigned to Jefferson, Millsap, Okur and Harris, the Jazz would only have perhaps $8-$10M to spend before exceeding the new tax threshold. With limited cap space (if any) they could probably only offer the MLE to Chandler. I imagine there will still be a "Bird" clause enabling teams to exceed the cap to retain there own FA's, so offering AK $7-$8M would be possible. But WHY? He's limited to 60 games, his skills and desire have been declining for 7 years. And if that was the plan, why would the Jazz have picked up CJ's option? You have Hayward, CJ, Burks and Bell at the wings, with Millsap perhaps getting some time at the 3. There aren't minutes to give to AK.

That's why I brought up the fact that you pick up another free agent, which would be about half of that 7-8 million.
Chandler "moneywise" is worth about the same as AK, and will provide decent scoring (say 8 to 10 points a game). And then of course you get a fresh AK off the bench, most likely a lot more free of injuries. Nobody can say he hasn't looked like AK of old in Russia.
I'm down for Millsap playing a lot of minutes at SF, but he's also going to have to cover a lot of PF minutes as well.
I think with the amount of injuries this franchise always seems to be plagued with, having too much talent is impossible.
Anyone remember Fesenko starting in playoff games??
Or Favors being out a couple weeks last year... and he's only 19.

What are the chances Denver doesn't match on Chandler with JR Smith now departed, I'm thinking 0.

Yeah, your probably right. But there are also a lot of good SF free agents out there as well. Just something to look into.

Wilson Chandler said he has signed a contract with the Zhejiang Guangsha of the Chinese Basketball Association, a move that would essentially preclude him from participating in the 2011-12 NBA season if the lockout ends and the games begin.

In addition, the CBA will not allow escape clauses that would allow players to leave the Chinese league in the event the NBA resumes operations. So Chandler would not be a part of the NBA if the season begins on time or even with an abbreviated schedule starting in January or February.

I believe if he doesn't get extended this upcoming year then the Nuggets will no longer have his rights (a la Ben Gordon). He should be unrestricted next offseason.

I believe Denver's restricted FA rights will carry over to next season. It is just like draft rights do as long he has signed with a different professional league.

I think we can find someone else better than Chandler the next year, he is not like the perfect fit for us. He is just a decent starter

Given our infusion of youth, I think the free agent(s) we do sign going forward need to fit from an intangibles/chemistry/leadership perspective. I also believe that person should play above average defense. Having said that, regarding the three, I personally feels that fully eliminates Kirilenko. He brings no intangibles at all to the table and is the antithesis of want you want in the locker room. No leadership. No passion. No hard work ethic. This translates to his game. He's rarely healthy (work ethic), will likely be reluctant to come off the bench (leadership) and is wildly inconsistent game to game (passion). This isn't what we want around Burks, Hayward, Kanter and Favors.

For me, at the three, I'd simply love an above average defender (even just slightly above average or possibly even average if he busts his ***) who works hard, is a good locker room guy, can lead a bit, won't cry about minutes, can shoot the three somewhat well, and is long. Hayward's not a long 3 and Millsap likely isn't the answer at the 3 though he should be able to play some minutes there. So someone in AK's build who fits the above criteria, yet doesn't break the bank, is perfect for us imo.

Numberica's suggestion of Wright seems like a possibility. He shouldn't break the bank, is long (6'9") and can shoot the three somewhat well. But would he be willing to come off the bench in future years and get half the minutes he got last year? Can he lead at all? How is he in the locker room? Is he a chucker? How's his defense? Does he play with passion? Kicky, can you help out here? I know you go to some Warriors games.
