The JHS Hype Thread

Just doing some research it looks like Martin's contract is not guaranteed next year at 8 million

Svi and juzang are not guaranteed

Jhs has no contract next year

That is 4 players who could be cut.

I would rather see what martin and jhs have for the rest of the year.

Jazz are probably auditioning KJ and Svi to be included in a trade this summer. I think they might like Juzang enough to keep him.

This is where the actual cruelty of this business lies.

Dennis Schroeder or whoever vet bitching about modern day slavery becaue they have to move their family to another location is just them being snowflakes. Sure its not fun, but companies also relocate their offices or workers and those regular Joes who get relocated dont have millions of dollars or armies of professionals supporting their relocation processes.

However discarding a young "fresh graduate" with injury being part of the basis is something much more horrible and something where sports set the bar MUCH lower than business world. Employers in most countries are liable for injuries suffered at work, and they cant just discard people because they have an injury that causes rehabilitation period or "decreases their efficiency in their role" which is what the logic in NBA largely is. Perimanent disability is a different story and both sports and business have systems in place to help people who end up in that situation, but thats rather rare in both instances.
I'm glad the NBA is at least marginally better than the NFL on they way they deal with injuries.

But yeah, this is a cruel business for many on the margins of it (and many players often find themselves on the margins eventually).

(Just my opinion, I do think it's important to recognize the similarities of sports systems to slavery more generally. Though there are huge, important differences that mean that today's sport's contracts are not slavery, I think we're better off acknowledging where similarities do exist.)

JHS sounds like he has a serious career threatening back injury
I may wrong about that though
Yeah, maybe. Back surgery is a major red flag. He had good G-League numbers, but those dont really mean anything. I hope he revives his career in Europe or in the G at some point and it isnt just over for him.
